dragonite vs alakazam.

me and a couple of friends were on serebii.net(lol)and we had this huge debate on who would win out of alakazam and dragonite.
personally i think dragonite but meh...

(Besides, who would win would depend greatly on the actual skills of said Alakazam and Dragonite. I mean, who would win in a fight between an American and a Canadian? Depends on which American and which Canadian.)

Only in Serebii would a completely random poll between two completely different Pokemon would come to life as if those Pokemon were comparable.

It all depends on the moveset. Alakazam has counter-shash and is faster even if Dragonite itself also holds Focus Sash.

But then if it was using that moveset and Dragonite uses a special move or opts for Dragon Dance instead, then you've got a problem.

Then there's Trick Alakazam who could screw over the Dragon Dancing type.

But of course you get screwed over if it decides to Draco meteor you.

What happens if Dragonite is the one who is scarfed?

I think it's more of a preference 'win' than an actual 'who would win in a fight' sort of win. And for that, I plant my flag firmly in the Dragonite camp!

If someone like Gary for instince was training Dragonite he'd win but...

If ash was training Alakazam it could be a close battle..

But in my mind i'd say dragonite would come out the victor...

But anyway, this hypothetical question is very very vague. Too vague to actually have a normal debate, it depends on EV spread, rules in the battle, movesets, overall stats.

It really depends on moveset, trainer, level, ability, item, etc, etc.

if it was against the standard moveset, a dragonite with a yache berry will always win against alakazam unless it holds focus sash.

Well it all comes down to the skill levels of both Alakazam and the Dragonite and most importantly the trainer. If had to choose I would go with Dragonite due to the overall awesomeness of him.

Alakazam can pwn a lot of things...
But I rather take Dragonite for the Wifi Battle Tower (oder something like that ;X) because as a starter,it just roxx.
Dragonites moveset is made of pure win.

It's really on the moves and stats. If, say, Dragonite was a DDancer, Dragonite might have an advantage, but if Alakazam has Choice Scarf and HP Ice, Alakazam has a fighting chance.

I myself am a fan of Psychic types, but even if I'm a novice competitive battler, I don't let myself be dragged down by preferences.

I've beaten Lance Dragonite with my Alakazam. My Alakazam was 8 levels higher, though, so I don't know if I could have still won had I been at the same level.
Still I voted for one of my favorite Pokémon -the Psychic oone!
