DS scratch removal

I hope it works; I should try it, but I wonder if I need white tooth paste (I know it says it doesn't matter, but I can predict getting a blue tone on my screen)

You can just buy a screen protector to prevent getting scratches in the first place.

Im not sure if it actually works for the DS, but my brother has been doing that for years with CDs. Im not sure that it necessarily got rid of ALL the scratches on his CDs but I think it did help.

The reason why the toothpaste works is because it's a mild abrasive meaning it works to erode away the small film of plastic. In turn, surface scratches will fade because you've basically reset the surface level of the plastic. This is why toothpaste works to make our teeth whiter, the toothpaste is merely removing the top layer of enamel exposing the whiter parts of the teeth.

Brands of toothpaste that state 'extra strength' are just stronger abrasives. I'd say if you were to try this, use a standard white fluoride tube of toothpaste so the screen doesn't become too weak.

Well, provided the screen wont weaken, I guess I can try.

Yes, I have screen protectors/ Just got them a bit too late

Anyway, whats a q tip/ear bud?

Wow, I'm so going to try this.
I've got a million scratches on my DS. o.o'

I just tried it with my shuffle's switch and the weathered-yellow parts of my earphones. I used Colgate as the toothpaste, if anyone wanted to know.
They turned all shiny and white! D:

I'm considering thinking before using it on the DS now though, since I can't get a new one if I damage this (none in sight around here).

I suppose I can give it a try with my cell phone.

^ Metroid Fusion? (waht??? i enjoy the occasionaly SPAM, but alas, i will stop if you all wish for me to do so...)

but seriously though, how well does this technique work?

Metroid Fusion pwnz. Only metroid game better is super metroid.

Apologies to bump up this thread, but I posted another similar thread only to have it go relatively unanswered; I have the Pokémon Center Pikachu Edition DS Lite here, which is receiving some nasty scratches (especially on the underside), and I'm now seriously considering using some toothpaste on it's surface, However, there's that picture of Pikachu on there, and I'm afriad that the toothpaste may do something nasty to it. Should I go ahead, or should I resign myself to the scratches?
