ds to dsi wifi?

So I've always had a ds lite, and a nintendo wifi usb connector to play online. Then yesterday I buy a DSi, and today I try to go into wifi on pokemon Soul silver, and it says it can't.
It tells me:
Unable to connect to nintendo wifi because the use information of the system and game card do not match.

It then offers to update the user information saved on the game card, but it will delete all my friends on pal pad, which is a problem since I can't SEE my friend's FCs to re-enter them later.
 
Ah, yes. I had this issue with a friend a few weeks back. What you do is you enter the wifi port in the system itself, and then enter it in the game... I think.
 
Transfer the Wi-Fi data from the DS lite to your DSi. Look on Nintendo's site; there's a guide.
