I'm in Australia and i've been having a lot of trouble going wi-fi. I know that McDonalds is a Wi-Fi hotspot, but i took my ds there with MKDS and i couldn't connect. I have not got wireless internet at home and i'm REALLY new to wi-fi. I just want to know if i can get it to work a McD's before i go off and get a wireless router.

If you have a broadband Internet connection at home, you can buy Nintendo's USB Wi-Fi adapter that will let you play at home. You don't need to set up a Wi-Fi network at your house.

But $40 (USD, dunno what the Aussie equivalent is) is hardly a bargain. Part of your problem might be whether or not you configured the game for Wi-Fi. Nintendo has a great troubleshooting section for Wi-Fi for the DS. Helped me TREMENDOUSLY when I was first trying to connect mine.
