Do you think Black and White will make use of DSi's andthe 3Ds's features? If so, how? Post your ideas!

Personally, I would like to take pictures of enviorments and then be able to rub the stylus around the picture to search for pokemanz. You would be able to find certain pokemon depending on the enviorment you of the picture. Also, a pokemon that you could put you're face on would be awesome.

Well...we don't know many of the 3DS's features yet...besides 3D. However, what I'd like to see:

New Software:
- Pokémon Ranch DS (DSiWare)
Basically, a smaller version of Pokémon Ranch (most likely using HG/SS following sprites and newly made ones for 5th Gen Pokémon). To save space, it will be compatible with DPtHGSSBW and allow transferrals similar to Pokémon Box.

Features in Black/White:
- Use of the DSi Camera to track movement of the console to create a pseudo-3D experience.
- Increased support for other types of Internet Connections for Wi-Fi, similar to how the DSi Browser can accept connections DS/Lite can't.

Three letters: WPA.

What is all I care about.

Well, okay, better graphics and sound, too...

Personally, i would love a Pokedex app for the DSi. Even though we already have one in the games, it just be cool have it. :p

considering that the 3DS is not really developed yet, I'd say there may only be some DSi features.

Um, the 3DS is going to be playable at E3 in like, 2 months; and it's being released in less than a year. I'm pretty sure that means the hardware is fully developed, at this point. That devkits exist is indication enough.

3DS features in B&W seem unlikely (and if there are any, it'll be an extremely small component), but the actual 3DS is sure as hell developed.

Okay, fair enough, but would there have been enough time to program the existing games to have cool features on the 3DS? I doubt it.

There wouldn't be much point in it, anyway. All they'd be able to do is design a small area to take advantage of the screen's 3-D technology. Taking advantage of any of the massive graphical improvement of the 3DS would (at best) make that part of the game look completely incongruous with every other location, or (at worst) hinder DS compatibility.

GF is probably waiting for the third version to make a 3DS game.

Pokemon Stadium 3DS.

I do believe that's all that needs saying.

That actually sounds pretty damn awesome, and it may be easy to do. I remember hearing that a second DS card slot was considered for the DSi but later scrapped - if they implement that in the 3DS instead, it'd be simple to pick a team from a Gen. IV/V game in one slot to fight in 3D on the Stadium game in the other slot.

that's the greatest friggin idea i've ever heard. and it would make perfect sense. 3rd pokemon stadium for the 3DS. i mean if game freak said they were making use of the 3DS capabilities but not implementing it for B/W, then a pokemon stadium game is entirely likely!

Since 3DS is coming out after these games and these games are designed for DS, I hightly doubt they will have features for 3DS, games after these will most likey. Also I hightly doubt these games will have features designed for DSi, since HGSS was, what chance would these games have? (Maybe WPA, but thats it)

Honestly, I don't give a crap about the DSi, I just hope that pokemon B/W doesn't have any DSi exclusibe features, Nintendo and Game Freak both know that alot more people own Nintendo DS/Lites than DSi's.

That didn't stop Nintendo from implementing GBA-only features in Zelda: Oracle of Seasons and Ages. And making Crystal a GBC-exclusive when Gold and Silver were backwards-compatible with the original Game Boy. (Speaking of which, did GS look any different when playing on the original GB, besides the lack of color?)

That is true, but not very relevant here. The DSi is still a Nintendo DS; it is not the next handheld, alot of people fail to realize that.

Where's the camera on the original DS then? If the DSi is a redesigned version of the DS, then surely that means the original has a camera. Same goes for the SD slot, WPA compatibility, downloadable games, and probably other things I'm missing. Also, the DSi is more powerful than the DS/DS lite.

more power + new features + exclusive games = new system

It may be a small update akin to the GBC, but saying it's the same thing as the DS is just plain wrong.

And the Game Boy Color is still a Game Boy. Still, the DSi could be seen as just an upgrade like the Game Boy Micro, but it definitely had the potential to be the next handheld - more power, new features, etc. it's just that Nintendo was so over-eager to announce the 3DS (though, IIRC they might've been forced to announce it to prevent a leak.)

Besides, there are games with DSi-exclusive features. I believe there's a cookbook that has recipes that only the DSi can access (which is beyond stupid) and the DSiWare is exclusive to the DSi and some make use of DSi features like the camera.

I would definitely compare the DSi to the Game Boy Color, and the 3DS to the GBA.

Whether the DSi "could've been" a next-gen handheld is immaterial. It was intended as a redesign, and that's what it is. The fact that the vast majority of people still use Phats and Lites essentially limits what Nintendo can do with the DSi. If anything major were released as a DSi-exclusive, they'd lose out on massive sales to Phat and Lite owners. They didn't market the DSi has a replacement for older DS', but as an updated alternative with a few tweaks for people who hadn't got on board with the system yet.

The fact that only 2 or 3 DSi-exclusive cartridge games (and not particularly good ones, either) have been released in the year and a half the DSi has been on the market is indication enough.

I think they could release some DSi compatability: like putting your trainer's sprite on a picture you've taken of your environment.
