I think that in the DST template users should be able to choose whether to use "daylight saving time" or "daylight savings time", as both are widely used. However, Trainer-c thought everyone should be forced to use "daylight saving time", despite the fact that "daylight savings time" is just as common. Shiningpikablu252 locked it because Trainer-c was too resistant to change and I'd like to request for it to be changed back to the way I had it.

As far as I am aware, "daylight savings time" is not used in any official or professional settings. Type "daylight savings time" into google, you will find that daylight savings does not show up in results, nor does it show up on any informational sites, news articles, Wikipedia, even the US timekeeping sites refer to it as daylight saving.

Also note that the tag was originally "daylight saving time" and the first revert to your extra "s" was made by the Editor-in-Chief.

If you'd even bothered to look at my edit, you'd see that it gave users the choice of whether to use "daylight saving time" or "daylight savings time". There's nothing wrong with giving users the choice of which spelling they prefer. The very same Wikipedia article you cited says that "daylight savings time" is a valid spelling.

I'm not saying everyone should be forced to spell it "daylight savings time", I'm just saying that everyone should get the choice about which way they want it spelled.

Do we really care that much about this?

This seems quite trivial. I say "daylight savings time," it's part of my vernacular, but I also say, when going to the beach, that I'm going "down the shore" (oh, Philadelphia). I don't see why we should be arbitrating a template's inclusion of an "s"...but that's just me, I guess.

Ridiculous. I see no point in forking a template just to include a variant spelling that isn't used officially.

(Personally I would rather abolish DST altogether, but that's a different matter.)

For the record, it is Daylight Saving, however it is such a trivial matter, as stated, that it hardly needs to be commented on, other than that no variant is needed.

"Dayling Savings" is incorrect... why would you want to use it?

The same Wikipedia article Trainer-c cited as "proof" that "daylight saving time" is the only spelling stated that "daylight savings time" is a valid alternate spelling.

I'm very picky when it comes to spelling and grammar, but not THIS picky. HoS anyone?

Just because you don't use it doesn't mean no one else does. That was the most ignorant comment i've seen since i've been here. I use Daylight Savings.

You know, I find it quite ironic that you were ignorant of what Argy said, or rather, what she didn't say. She only said that it's incorrect, and technically, that's true. She never said that no one else should use it.

Yeah, but the last bit said "why would you want to use it?" i didn't mean to go off like that bad, but i thought that was wrong. It probably is incorrect to most of you, i know most of you guys in America don't use it, but some people do use it and they would want to use it because they naturally use it, like me. That's what i meant to say.

Why can't everyone just stick to Daylight Saving Time? Does it even MATTER?

I'm not saying this because I don't experience the four seasons (yes, Singapore only has two), but we're quarreling over just ONE, yes, ONE letter? One byte? Let Daylight Saving Time be the default! You don't like it? Then copy the coding and add an 's'! That's what I do!

On a final note, the user namespace is locked up for now, so WHY THE HELL ARE WE QUARRELING OVER (Sorry, DISCUSSING ABOUT) THIS?
