Is there ANYTHING Pokemon related that has both the English and Japanese language versions on a single DVD (the Region doesn't matter)

The Japanese DVDs of movies 1-3 has both the English version and the Japanese version in them. The English audio is the dub audio. I think it has the dub music also. The English subtitles are also from the dub. You can not play the English subtitles at the same time as the Japanese audio.

The only dual-language thing in the US is the Pokémon Channel GCN game, which has an unlockable Japanese audio track for the Pichu Bros. anime short as well as one with commentary from Misty's Japanese VA.

if you're willing to count it, Smash Bros. Melee also has a dual language feature (though, you can only switch the voices and the text at the same time). You can hear a few Pokemon's Japanese voices, at least.

Only the North American version of SSBM. The European has French and German voices instead.

Woah, that's so weird XD I totally didn't expect that one :p

Wait, does that mean that the Japanese DVD release came AFTER the US DVD release?

That's completely pointless. So, you can only play English subtitles during English audio? Nosense. Screw 4Kids's stupid pointless annoying edits.

Besides what was already said, there's the Pokemon Edit of Chiisaki Mono music video on the dub Jirachi DVD.

And reading only the topic, the German TV Series DVDs are technically dual audio. English + German ;-)

yep, same with the dutch version... annoying actually. Most languages get their version and the version they adapted it from (Which would be the english edit in most cases XD)

English has *drumroll* English... or perhaps an additional spanish or french track :p which as luck has it are adapted from said English version...

I may have it all wrong though

4kids wasn't responsible for the composition of the Japanese movie 1-3 DVD releases.

Also, the combination of Japanese audio and English subtitles is just not available in the DVD menu, but you can still set it manually.

yeah, what's the deal with that? Pokemon derives from Japan, yet most of the world adapts off of the English version, with the only exceptions being a few Asian dubs (Chinese, at least that I'm aware... there wouldn't happen to be an alternate English dub in Singapore, would there?).

Perhaps Nintendo was behind this... I mean, when you think about it, the Pokemon anime's getting a localization that's very similar to most video games (something Nintendo obviously specializes in), and I'm not sure if 4kids had the rights to the anime in other languages. Some Japanese-produced video games will get localized in North America, then on occasion, that English localization will be published in European countries with other languages added onto it and converted to be compatible with PAL TVs (though, there are exceptions to this. A few games got released in PAL territories but never in North America, for example)... and I guess that same English translation is released in a few select other countries as well (I recall Orion telling me that practically all video games in Mexico are the English version, despite the population speaking Spanish). In any case, it seems like the English version of a video game is the basis for releasing that game to the rest of the world.

Yeah, but it's the English subtitles to the English version, rather than the English translation of the Japanese version.

English version games in Mexico? Strange, when as you say, most of the population speaks Spanish. I was able to buy a Spanish copy of Sapphire, though (in Tenerife), probably because the Spanish versions are put out by Nintendo of Europe, I guess. So for Mexico to get the game at the same time as the USA, it would be the English version, whereas Spain would get the Spanish version around the same time as the UK gets the US English one. (With that huge delay, NoE could at least redo the UK games in UK English!)

Well, I don't think that's the issue here. But I agree, subtitles that represent a direct translation of the Japanese would be good.

I agree, but there are no official translation of the jp version. You'll have to download it. It's the same with both Pokémon and Yu-Gi-Oh, I think.

it's probably easier to find people that can translate english into whatever language they need...

Problem being that we get more translation oddities, especially given the fact that they're more adaptation than translation :p

But 4Kids was responsible for all those edits. If the English movie wasn't so edited and cut, the English subtitles would fit Japanese version. But it doesn't because of 4Kids's edits and cuts.

You lose, nYoo.

Stop pretending that I'm defending 4kids. I'm not and in contrast to you I try to remain a neutral point of view. You're really silly in how you apparently think that every conversation is a combat. Grow up.

I'm not 100% certain, but I'm pretty sure there is. I remember a girl being depressed one time because the Singapore dub was behind the American version.

Singapore has an alternate English dub? Cool! I wonder how far have it gone and what are Characters' names (the same as American, different or Japanese?).

o_O. Saying "You lose" to someone is an insult? o_O I think I received 2 infraction points for nothing.
