Dub Voice Actor Guesses/Discussion - The Next Generation

We'll see who they bring back as it progresses, I suppose crosses fingers maybe they'll reconsider their treatment of Taylor etc. down the line, though.

I think they'll probably bring her back, Edward Bosco, Bill Rogers, and Mick Wingert given their usual roster. Ted Lewis has been back for a while, as has Marc Thompson, so that duo as well will stay put too, IMO.

I wonder if after 17 years of an embargo on the triad, they will down the line, consider bringing back Veronica Taylor, Eric Stuart, and Rachael Lillis with no more Ash & co around at last? And will Michael Haigney ever return, the dub's first VO director? Darren Dunstan made his return midway into DP & his last major role was Stephan in BW's dub, before he more or less departed again, the dub's second VO director & last one before TPCi took over, for 4Kids' run.
 
Isn't Darren busy with yugioh, maybe he's contractual barred from working on a competitor like pokemon...

He's done both Pokemon & Yu-Gi-Oh simultaneously: 4K/Konami happily let Natochenny, Liscio Jr, and Paschall etc. join them, TPCi happily let many 4Kids VAs return to minor roles save a handful like Tracey over the years- it's just JCC & KR 4K/Konami have had a nasty quarrel with over the years, much in the way it's just been VT, ES, RL, etc. TPCi has had one with due to what happened in S09.

Ironic it’s the same VA as originally, but his voice is a bit more heavy at times (different vocal direction a factor?). He’s the only major character to get back his OG 4Kids VA, trivia (the only other 3 roles that eventually went back to their original English VAs under the 4Kids Era are Nurse Joy, the Narrator, and Giovanni, but all are minor or in Parsons’ case, just at the start and end of episodes).

TPCi going to TPCi, as per the norm.

She did, it was very noticeable in a lot of late BF and early DP: I suspected it at the time, and she had a Blog of Chenners back then where Sarah used to talk about it. She apparently quit sometime (good for her), but it was very notable and Ash’s dub voice was at its deepest and most gravelly as well imo. Re: dub Butch, neither Eric nor James ever smoked in their lives believe it or not, those are Harvey Fierstein impressions.

Wish-casting who I want to be in the Horizons dub eventually (Lisa Ortiz has worked with many of these people before!):

  • Veronica Taylor (Make things right w/Ash and co. gone for good, would be an olive branch & show respect to the OG mains they never got from the company so far)
  • Eric Stuart (Make things right)
  • Rachael Lillis (See above)
  • Michael Haigney (See above)
  • Kathy Pilon/Borland (The script writer for 4Kids' late Johto-late AG/early BF dubs of Films/Movies, Pikachu Shorts & the Anime, it's not JCC contrary to what many think, he was an assistant minor writer from Seasons 5-8 until Season 9- she was the writer there in charge: Blaustein alluded to it on Serebii; additionally, the VO director for Pokemon Masters in 2019, not impressed with her in the latter capacity but I still loved to see a veteran back in the franchise)
  • Bill Rogers (Miscast as Brock, but has talent elsewhere)
  • Michele Knotz (Subpar as Misty like Reba Buhr was in 2019, see above)
  • Ted Lewis (Same as you)
  • Chris Sabat (See above)
  • Sean Schemmel (Iconic)
  • Dan Green (See above)

I'm just saying, you could have an all-star cast in HZ's dub of old and new, IF they wanted it: come on, Pokémon, you can do it.


Who is in it so far, I'm happy about:

  • Sarah Natochenny (May not be my favorite dub Ash, but if she hadn't taken over a role for someone else that I think did it better & shouldn't have ever been replaced in the first place just to cut costs/save money at the time for PUSA/TPCi, she has shown potential in other characters at times like Aura in YGO and Tokyo Revengers as Yuzuha- she fits female roles way better than male save Delia, IMO)
  • Crispin Freeman (The only 4Kids Era veteran to return in the new Series in a major capacity, but he was one of the 4Kids' dub's OG script writers in Kanto-OI, and is now a major character in the HZ dub under TPCi)
  • Marc Thompson (I loved his Maxie in Gen 3 and I thought he has a pretty good vocal range: not really a VA I was all that impressed by, but he's still cool)

Hopefully Chris collet will still be in the dub. In Dan greens newest podcast episode, he is trying to get him for an interview. I hope so since he's so elusive.

Heck. To the yeah. Probably one of the best 4Kids-TPCi voice actors in the entire show. I’m so glad Yugi’s* trying to get him back.
*For context, I meant Yugi’s voice actor lol, I was trying to make a joke
