I have no idea where to put this thread, so move it if necessary.

What are some of the strangest fan theories you've ever heard?

I once heard of something that insists that Dragonair was intended to evolve into Gyarados, and Magikarp was supposed to evolve into Dragonite. I see no similarity besides the colors, and the types make no sense.

Anything else?

While I was still a kid, my friend insisted that Ash's Pikachu died after fighting in the first Pokemon League in the anime.

"Pi... Ka... Chu." *dies*
"NOOOOOO-"

Mew under the truck could be plausible and isn't dumb at all. But Mew DRIVING that truck is.

The idea that Butterfree was Venonat's original evolved form... I can't even begin to describe the contempt I feel for it.

*giggles* Mew drives a truck?

Anyway, Gengar is not Clefairy's shadow. Granted, they do look somewhat similar, but Gengar has two prevos which completely ruin this theory. But I suppose if they were both one stage Pokémon this would be plausible.

Talking to Professor Oak in his lab for 100/500/1000/any number of times forces him to give you a Pikablu.

YOU EVIL BASTARD, YOU KILLED YOUR RIVAL'S RATICATE. BURN IN HELL.
If I see that stupid paragraph "explaining" that you killed Blue's Raticate that somebody copy-pastes every time a discussion about it crops up one more time, I will explode.

Why? Look at the two of them, the similarities are undeniable. They look more like evolutionary relatives than Mareep and Flaaffy.

I don't know about that, but the game does seem to suggest that the Raticate died. I mean, think about it. After he uses Raticate against you for the final time, your next battle is in Pokemon Tower, a Pokemon cemetery. Plus, he says he just caught a Cubone, but he doesn't use one... ever. And he only has five Pokemon on hand during the battle, so it's not like he could have sent it to the PC. Plus, he gives you the Cubone excuse even if you fight him before getting the Silph Scope, in which case any Cubone in the tower would be unidentifiable and uncatchable.

I do think it's possible that Raticate died, but I didn't see anything in the game that suggested that Red was responsible for its death.

i made a thread like this, feel free to merge it :) cba finding/linking it tho. Gogo Mods! xD

Ash in a coma theory. The person who wrote that was either a massive troll or a wannabe armchair psychologist.

Cubone is a baby Kangaskhan who's mother died

Gengar is Clefairy's shadow

Oh, and Blue's Raticate dying because its apparently completely impossible that:

1) Blue's a jerk to Red, hence his comment asking if Red's Pokemon are dead.

2) He was in Pokémon Tower because it was the home to Cubone, one of the more rare Pokemon in the region.

3) He switched his Raticate out after he got better Pokemon like the player does, because he had 200 Pokemon in his box by gym 3

Plus, he says he just caught a Cubone, but he doesn't use one... ever.
He also caught over 200 Pokemon, he never used them all either. Your point being? Also, being weakened may be a reason that one would not use a newly caught Pokemon.

Plus, he gives you the Cubone excuse even if you fight him before getting the Silph Scope, in which case any Cubone in the tower would be unidentifiable and uncatchable.
Ummm, how does the player having the Silph Scope help the rival identify the ghosts? You're the one supposedly wearing them, it doesn't create some kind of massive field that makes the invisible visible. That's why they're glasses-shaped. Blue's also Professor Oak's grandson, he can probably get a Silph Scope without having to infiltrate a mafia hideout, as the Silph Scope was clearly advertised as a commercial product based on the sign next to the Lavander Tower.
