Hi,
My friend and me, and i guess a lot other dutch pokémon lovers want to make a dutch version of the bulbapedia wiki.
Is it possible to make a subversion(with the templates)? Something like nl.bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net

Greetings from holland

Mart

Technically, we encourage you to do it by setting yourself up, but I'm sure we can arrange something if you prove there's a sizable Dutch-speaking userbase. The Japanese member of EP, ポケモンWiki, is part of our servers, in a cooperation with Pokémon Republic (ポケモン共和国), a Japanese site.

So actually, what we want you to do is have your own site, and come up with your own name. Archaic would be the guy to talk to if you wanted to have our assistance in hosting the wiki, but it would have to be not Bulbapedia. Be more creative! You've got 499 other Pokémon to choose from, 494 of which have English names.

That sounds pretty cool, actually. (: If I knew how to speak or at least type Dutch, I'd love to help out... but I can't do either. l:

Wait, the Japanese branch is hosted on BG's servers? Cool.

I actually once had an idea of Finnish wiki, and I even requested a wiki on a few free wiki hosting sites, but I most probably couldn't have found enough contributors for it, so I swiftly discarded the idea.

Anyway, great to see that EP is ever-growing, if there will be a Dutch site that starts well :p

Like I said. Talk to Archaic. He handles all that stuff. I just run the wiki.

Hai!

I'm Dutch as well, and believe it or not, I've tried to make a Dutch wiki in the past. It was, however, not as easy as I thought, it eventually failed and I quit. And I was the only one who managed it, so it was kinda boring for me as well...

However, it's always been in the back of my mind to start one.
I'm able to set up and manage MediaWiki (learning programmer here :)), but I lack knowledge to create a lot of templates as here, having a structured overview and such, oh... and graphics... (css and cross-browser, blah...).

To start a wiki it's good to have more than one person managing it, otherwise it's doomed to fail in my eyes, because I've been there myself...
Also, good assistence is really awesome! It prevents you from starting the wrong way.

I've my own Pokémon site on the internet, I have to admit it's not entirely legal by laws, but what I'm saying is that I'm able to host it on a subdomain of mine for the time being. I remember my host doesn't have a bandwidth limit, so it won't be a problem :).
Just Google my name and you'll find many sites on which I'm (or was) active.

To make this story short, I'm willing to help ;)
I've my own host and domain, and if there's enough demand we can expand it to a much larger wiki if we want :)
Let me know if you like the idea!

Grtzz!!

P.S.: I just saw this thread when I came here if was already known that some Bulbapedia pages are having some technical difficulties XD
Btw.: How large is your MediaWiki on the server? I'd like to know what I can expect if I want to host it.

Hey, I'm Dutch too :D

And even though I prefer to read the English information, I do like the idea of a Dutch wiki. And I'm ready to help where needed, with the wiki.

I just want to help the people who can't speak English here in Holland, and like to know more about Pokémon and such. :D

I'd like to know if there's any progress...
But dopefish's only activity is his post. So... are there still people who want to continue this?

Grtzz!!
