Talk about E3 and the games here.

Square Enix was having a pre-game conference, should have info of new Final Fantasy stuff soon.

EDIT: Seems there will be a FF: Crystal Chronicles for the DS and Wii. Also, a Dragon Quest Game (apparently, it's a first person battle sytem or something)

Final Fantasy 13 was also shown, as well as a Cell Phone Spin-off game and a Kindom Hearts-esque spinoff (i.e., it's a action game)

Sony's Pre-Show conference is tonight, so that should be... interesting. If anything they do put on a good conference show at E3. DUCKIES!

Nintendo and Microsoft have theirs tommorow, which means that the real juicy stuff will be tommorow night.

My main hopes for E3 are to see more of the Next Gen Sonic, some news on Twilight Princess, the final bombshell over the Wii (and some swift retribution over the name) and pretty much every Wii game that will be there.

Also interested to see what will be on offer for the 360 as i'll be picking one up in the next week or two.

I'm also running an E3 section on Pokecharms throughout the week over what Nintendo has to offer, so i'll be busy too trying to keep up. ^^'

Nintendo is supposed to have a 2 Hour Conference this time. I am looking foward to Smash Bros the most.

I'm really not looking for much from the Ps3, no exciting games have been announced, now if they announce Kindom Hearts 3, well......

Maybe we should make a forum for E3, most other forums do.

If the current events forum hadn't been culled, we probably would have one here.

Though it's only a week, so the random E3 talk can easily fit into one topic with the bigger announcements taking off into their own in this otherwise underused forum anyway. ;)

IGN has pics of FF 13, apparently real-time pics (you can see the hud in one scene), looks amazing! The main character is kinda opposite of usual, a manly-looking female (usually a girly-looking man)

We had one for HURRICANES... >_> I think E3 can garner a little bit more interest than that.

He's got a point there, Evan. Though to be fair, at the point we created the Hurricanes one, we were in the middle of a particularly godawful (and impressive) season that had lots of people talking - especially with the various debates to be had regarding NOLA and Katrina.

From Sony Conference

PSP gets a focus. Why did they wait, and why now? The answer is that this was the right time for PlayStation Portable, with all the promise PlayStation offers. Unrivaled portable play rivaling PS2. PSP is the fastest-selling system in Sony's history, with 17mil units out there. Forecasts another 12mil in the global market for this year. 540 games and 47.3 million games shipped.

Unrivaled? Sony can't be that cocky, Nintendo is still a force to be reckoned with.

Announce some new games for PSP, nothing special though. Just started talking bout Ps3 now, should have some info.

EDIT:

PlayStation 3. PlayStation influences the world, and all of the cool goodies of PS3 and its cell will help to change the world. PS3 will include HDD and do true HD and Dolby Surround Sound.

Back-catalog compatibility: All PS games promised for backward-compatibility, as well as DVD and other media used on PlayStation systems. PSP will also connect with PS3.

5:14 -- Blu-Ray capacity. Sony thinks it's important to have space. 26% of PlayStation 2 games were on DVD when PS2 launched; now, it's 95%.

5:15 -- "Every PlayStation 3 will ship with a hard disc drive." Confirmed good news!!

5:15 -- No delay, worldwide launch in November 2005.

Oooh, co-inciding with the Wii's supposed release. Doesn't matter to me, as my brother is getting one, while I get the Wii. Take advantage of both systems.

EDIT: DAIMOND AND PAWRL! ZOMG! http://ps3media.ign.com/ps3/image/article/705/705639/pre-e3-2006-booth-photo-bonanza-20060508015846839.jpg

Actually, it's some Pokemon-esque game for the DS, looks kinda cool actually. Disney is making it too!

EDIT: Also, their is some Eyetoy card game. You like use virtual card or something. Sounds cool, unless the card game suck. Personally I would strike a deal with Konami or Wizards, and use Magic or Yugioh Cards. Duel Disks may be closer then we thought!

Someone post so I don't have to keep editing this, so I won't double post!

PS3 games:

Lair -- looks pretty wicked, as you ride a dragon and do battle with other dragons -- you can also fall off of your dragon and plummet to the earth

The Getaway -- Mean-ass-looking dude smokes somebody while people on the street are unaware.

Afrika -- Shows great detail on real animals, including a hippo, a giraffe, zebras, a yak, and more. Looks great, but ... uh, what's the gameplay?

Hot Shots Golf -- Cartoon golf, with nice (but not super-great) grass effects. Much higher res than PS2 game, with characters that look rendered.

Monster Kingdom -- A fantasy-horror game, you may recognize this from the PSP game also out (it's by the makers of Shin Megami Tensei.)

Seems the titles are going with a simplistic theme. Also a Naughty Dog game with a human character was shown, but not named. A teaser perhaps of a more humanoid Jak, or perhaps a Crash Bandicoot game with realistic humans?

Edit: Sony Rapes Nintendo....again...

Kuturagi takes the stage. He introduces the PS3 controlled ... and it's the PS3 controller?!? It looks exactly the same, but it has many new function. Most importantly, it has "6 degrees" of motion-sensing movement. (Um, Nintendo, what do you have to say about this?) You can move it up and down, you have pitch and yaw and roll movement, and it's all still wireless and, in fact, lighter than PS2's DualShock.

I still can't get over how Sony coppied Nintendo for ... the upteenth time ::roll eyes::

I do like Sony's console now, but in their recent press confrence, the details
for the upcomming gen were overwhelming in the worst ways and has me looking
down upon them for the mostpart.

Looking at prelim. stats, their base console appears to be shipping at $499US.
This isn't even including all the wonderful features that they've promised.
The base will lack the HDMI, Wireless, bluetooth and SD card ports everyone
has come to expect. These will be included in the premium, but that's $599.
Looks like I'll have a lot of waiting to do.

On top of this, they freaking stole Nintendo's idea...

Sony just revealed the final controller for the PlayStation 3 during their E3 keynote (which we're live-blogging here). What does it look like? Short answer: an awful lot like the PlayStation 2's existing Dual Shock.

There is one addition. The PS3's new controller contains some additional Wii-esque functionality without any sensors needed. Did Sony just gank Nintendo's secret weapon? Looks like it.

Specs include:

* X-Y-Z, pitch, roll, yaw, and lateral motion detection
* Bluetooth and wireless controls
* It's lighter than the PS2 controller

I feel as if this almost deserves a seperate thread.

Oh, the irony. "Sony is not intrested in gimmicks," said a rep.

Well, they're certainly taking a small chance in validating Nintendo, to a certain extent. But I can't see how this is a bad thing--unless silly people think that the Playstation 3 can now do anything the Wii can.

I believe this sums up my attitude towards Sony's move here.

The good thing is, according to IGN, the Ps3 "motion" sensing isn't even as good as Warioware TWisted.

WarioWare Twisted has been delayed time and time again here in the UK and Europe because of some European guidelines on the motion sensor control unit that forced them to change it.

I do wonder if Sony could fall foul of the same problem unwittingly - it'd almost certainly hand Europe to Nintendo on a silver platter this Xmas if they did.

And here was me thinking Sony would wait for the PS4 to implement that...

Even outside of Europe, I think this could ultimately benefit Nintendo. The main selling point of the PS3 is the numbers which it has beaten Nintendo in. (Not that Nintendo are playing that game but that's what it looks like to those who care about that kind of thing.) Now the PS3 has motion sensing in it's play style... but the Wii is far, far, far superior at that. That's gotta win Nintendo a few sales. ;-)

Wii release: Last quarter of this year.

It launches with LoZ: Twilight Princess

The Wii controller sounds like it can do a whole bunch of things.

MD is CONFIRMED for America!!!!!!!!!!

I loved the conference.

The fact that TP has now become two seperate versions is a bit annoying, especially as they made a point of saying in America - not just around the world.

I'm getting a Wii launch day with it anyway though so it doesn't truely bother me that much.

And I NEED that conductor game that Shigsy was playing at the start.

Other big titles:

Super Mario Galaxy
Metroid Prime 3 Corruption
Talk of an Animal Crossing on the Wii that uses the Wii 24 Hour Connectivity feature that basically keeps the Wii online and active permanantly at the power of a 'minuature light bulb' to give access to your town at any time. As well as for other games to download new info automatically AND easily for developers.

And the Sonic game looked great - I'm very happy.

Things i'm annoyed about:

No Ranger. At all. I hope it'll still be playable at the show but we could end up waiting till much later in the year for the game - which is a pity.

No SSB at all - they must be keeping this one under their hats for the Tokyo show in a few months.
