Early Game Shiny Hunting in Platinum?

Hi everyone!

I recently picked up my old Platinum version. I am aware of the poke radar method, but I am curious of any methods I could use to hunt for shiny pokemon before I have beaten the game?

There is the Masuda method but you need a international pokemon for that. Then there is soft resetting for pokemon like starters and legendaries.
