Out of all the important battles of the game, did you find any of them particularly easy or hard, especially if you had noticed a particular trainer being such across multiple playthroughs?
As someone who has played the Gen9 games plenty of times, I would say that Poppy is by far the easiest opponent, and Atticus was the most difficult.
Poppy was way too friggin easy, but she did not need to be. The descision to revert to a fixed order Elite 4 was preposterous; there’s a good reason why many later games stopped doing that, and that’s because it just means the first or first two members of the E4 would be easy and underlevelled because the player probably grinded to the champion’s levels. Most later games where the E4 could be challenged in any order had every member with a team at the same levels at least.
And even then, Poppy’s team would have still been a massive joke if it was higher levelled. Almost every time this battle happens, I steamroll her with just one team member. Yes, only one team member. And the only time I used multiple mons was a time when I knew I could have done it with only one.
In my first playthrough, she was the ONLY important boss, INCLUDING earlygame ones, where I used only one team member, a Camerupt. I didn’t even use X items, I completely mowed through her team with one mon, while every other important battle in the game, I used at least two. Did her Copperajah at least have Ground coverage? I wouldn’t know, I outsped! The ‘hardest’ opposing mon in that battle was Magnezone, only because of Sturdy.
In other playthroughs, everything was the same but with a different mon, such as Ceruledge or Hearthflame mask Ogerpon, but the similarity is that I only needed one mon to demolish Poppy’s whole squad, let’s move on.
I don’t know why, but even with a team that could easily counter Poison mons I usually have a difficult time fighting Atticus, and I don’t recall many instances where I didn’t struggle during his battle. His team hit really hard, especially his Revavroom which is also quite fast too. And his starmobile was also really challenging as well.
