What do you imagine the economy of the pokemon world to be like?
I think that some creatures (Tauros, Krabby, Oddish) are farmed for their meat or eggs, with the assistance of the farmers pokemon, that provide the brute strength. This food is transported to stores by flying pokemon, and is sold from there.

It is probably...ah, never mind.

It seems that most people do Pokemon related jobs for a living...

Eh, seems.

Probably the same as ours, except with an organization for cock-fighting animals.

Yum, Oddish meat. >_>

It's probably some sort of communism. Those guys digging out the cave between Rusturf and Verdanturf didn't seem to be in it for the money.

course, people are still paid to sell stuff, so money is probably just not as much of a necesity as it is in our world.

The economy seems to be....very strange. While there are big corps, there's no evidence of real national government (unless the league is the government), so it's hard to pin down exactly what's going on. I'd think that it's probably similar to ours in many aspects, but that the average person probably has to do a lot less in terms of what most of us would consider work (9-5 jobs in offices), for whatever reason.

Most interestingly, there seems to be no banking system whatsoever. That'd throw a huge spanner into the works. If there's no investment from public savings...that's going to limit the amount of big business which could possibily be around.

Sure there are banks and non-Pokemon related jobs. We just don't see them because that's not what the show focuses on. If we're talking about a 'realistic' version of the Pokemon world, there'd have to be those things, wouldn't there?

And as for no national government - I believe I've had this debate before. *looks for link*

Actually, I was basing my idea of there being no banks on the player in the video games carrying their money around with them constantly. As for the anime....well, why haven't we seen Team Rocket try to break into a bank? Or just a simple filler episode with the team helping Joy solve a bank robbery?

There was Gligarman, though. He sold his action figures.

Also, there's Silph, Devon, and the Radio Tower.

Plus ONBS, and Gabby and Ty's TV station, and the four (You know there's gonna be one in Shinou) casinos, and Realgam Tower. With all that, there's gotta be some sort of banking system in Pokemon.

(Unless you wanna rock up to your local casino and ask them to keep all their revenue in store.)

Yeah, but one of the methods of getting more coins is by paying cash for them.

And I bet they sell Coin Cases for fairly steep prices, too. Even if they let 10 year olds gamble there, but I digress.

pokecredits

I once believed that the 'P' currency symbol was "Imperial Credits". In case you're wondering, yes I did get it off from Star Wars.
Oh how unoriginal am I!
