Edible Pokemon?

Several pieces of evidence have appeared in the Pokemon universe suggesting that certain Pokemon, like real-world animals, can be eaten. Two examples I can remember are Magikarp and Farfetch'd.

What other Pokemon do you believe could be consumed as food by humans?

My ideas for edible Pokemon:

-Squrtle Family: can be made into a turtle soup-like dish.
-Tepig Family: pork source.
-Just about any Pokemon based on sealife: some can be dangerous to consume if not prepared properly.
-Nearly any snail or slug-based Pokemon: eaten in the same way as escargot. Perhaps eaten primarily in Kalos as parallel to its real world counterpart. The only exceptions would likely be Slugma and Magcargo, for obvious reasons.
-Several bird-based Pokemon: in the same way as we eat birds in the real world.

Don't forget about Slowpoke tails and how Team Rocket was actually cutting them off in the games to sell as expensive food.
Also, if Miltank can make MooMoo milk, I don't think it's a far stretch to say Miltank can be eaten. Those cheeseburgers have to come from somewhere. D:
'Tis sad, though. If powerful and magnificent creatures like Pokemon existed for real, I just can't imagine eating them.

I'm surprised that Vanillite and Swirlix's lines haven't been brought up yet. THEY ARE MADE OF DESSERT!

Actually, Vanillite's "ice cream" is made of plain snow and its "cone" is made of rock-hard ice. Not very appetizing. And Swirlix isn't made of cotton candy. It has fur which is extremely sticky due to its sweet tooth.

And to the OP, Magikarp may not be entirely edible, as though Ash and Brock imagined it sliced like a ham, Meowth bit into it and its scales were so hard, Meowth's fangs broke.

I've noticed that many Pokémon are based on food (though not all of these are edible):

Farfetch'd: Duck with onion.
Exeggcute: Eggs/seeds.
Exeggutor: Pineapples.
Happiny / Chansey / Blissey: Eggs
Ditto: Chewing gum; grape or blueberry flavor. (It's technically an amoeba, but gum is cuter).
Sunkern: Sunflower seeds.
Unown: Alphabet soup. (Same logic as Ditto, it's cuter to think of it as food.)
Qwilfish: Fugu (blowfish).
Miltank: Milk.
Ludicolo: Pineapples.
Seedot: Acorns.
Tropius: Bananas.
Combee: Honeycomb.
Cherubi: Cherries.
Cherrim: Eggplant?
Vanillish / Vanillite / Vanilluxe: Ice cream.
Foongus / Amoonguss: Mushrooms.
Buneary / Lopunny / Bunnelby / Diggersby: Chocolate bunnies.
Swirlix: Cotton candy.
Slurpuff: Cupcakes.

Big difference between the games and anime. When only humans eat diverse food and Pokemon only eat berries the food chain is only 2 links long. lol

All Pokemon can be eaten, probably even Geodude. Humans seem to be able to eat anything.

But since humans and Pokemon are related... eating Pokemon is like eating monkeys.

I guess Deerling, Sawsbuck, and Stantler could be eaten as venison.

Delicious Fire-Blasting monkeys.

I imagine Dodrio jerky would be delicious. Also, any Pokemon technically could be eaten (aside from legendaries) if you ate them in egg form. Mmmm, Onix-egg omelet...

Is it bad that I immediately thought Chimchar when I read Fire-Blasting monkeys? Anyways the idea of cooking Pokemon eggs is interesting, though I can imagine that the eggs might vary in size based on the Pokemon it originates from.

Caterpie, Pidgey, Clefairy, Oddish, Poliwag, Bellsprout, Shellder, Cloyster, Krabby. Exeggcute, Seedot, Corphish, Starly, Kricketot, Magikarp, Octillery, Cherubi, Finneon, Basculin, Vanillite, Ducklett, Deerling, Bouffalant, Tauros, Miltank, Froakie, Swirlix, Clefairy and Togepi.

I would eat all these Pokemon.

That could just imply it can't be eaten raw.

I think it was mentioned in the episode that the scales are impossible to break and in the boys' fantasy, Magikarp wasn't skinned. It seems more like cuisinal ignorance on the part of our main characters. Especially considering that Misty, the water type specialist, showed no inclination of wanting to eat Magikarp, probably because she knew it wasn't edible to begin with.

Maybe Miltank could be steak? :p
Well, we know that they produce milk that humans drink so I wouldn't see why the Miltank itself can't be eaten. Mmmmm, Miltank burgers.... with Whitney's cow as the meat.

Don't Chansey also produce edible eggs that people can eat? I could swear I've read that in one of the Poke Dex entries for it. I'd probably be fine with eating a Chansey egg omelet.

I'm honestly a little confused about Magikarp in the edible regard. On one hand, we have this example from the anime. But on the other hand, there's several Flying-Type Pokemon whose PokeDex entries state that they prey on Pokemon like Magikarp, which would imply that they can be eaten raw. As of now, the only possible explanation I'm coming up with is that the Magikarp James had was likely domestically raised by the Magikarp Salesman and, therefore (due to the nature of that man), not likely an ideal condition specimen. Maybe healthier, wild Magikarp are more edible?

Don't forget. Pokéhumans are regular people, just apparently way more tolerant of flames and harsh conditions and such. But they're not shown eating anything crazy (for example, no one's taking a bite out of any Geodude anytime soon!) meanwhile Pokémon are known for their freakish diets (Victreebel dissolves things in its acid, Heatmor spits magma into Durant to eat it, Snorlax eating actual poisonous things and being fine). Safe to assume a steel-coated Skarmory can eat things us fleshy humans cannot.

Most of them can probably be eaten. All of them probably since you see people irl eating shit like metal... so you'd get the weirdos eating Magnemites and all that.
