Hokkaido, uniquely, has two Ambassador Pokémon, with the main one being Alolan Vulpix and Kantonian Vulpix serving as the Deputy Ambassador to the prefecture. They were some of the first Pokémon appointed as ambassadors to a prefecture, representing Hokkaido as one of the snowiest areas of Japan.
The new Poké Lids depict the two with other Pokémon at various scenic locations throughout the region. Yubetsu Town’s new lid, for example, pictures the ambassadors with Cutiefly at Kamiyubetsu Tulip Park, a tourist destination boasting 70,000 square meters of tulip fields. The lid to be installed in Tsubetsu Town, meanwhile, features Vulpix with Sawsbuck in a forest, due to the dense tree cover and woodcraft in the area.
These new Poké Lids are illustrated by Saya Tsuruta, who has been designing and illustrating for Pokémon video games and TCG cards since Generation IV. She has even designed Poké Lids featuring Alolan and Kantonian Vulpix for Hokkaido before, noting Vulpix as her favorite Pokémon.
