Spoilers for those who haven't seen the episode from this past week in Japan.

Oak was conveniently at Ash's house when he arrived. Misty has an excuse, she had apparently been waiting there for days prior to his arrival, but Oak....given that he couldn't possibily know that Ash was going to be there right then, how come he just happened to pick that point to visit? Exactly how much time do he and Ash's mother spend together anyway?

I'm an Eldershipper too, but I think you're looking into this a bit too much. Remember that the average viewer isn't going to question why he's there; it's because it would be a hassle to have yet another character suddenly enter the house. I guess he could have been absent altogether, but perhaps next week there will be a reason for his presence.

Seeing as how they're next-door neighbors in a small farming town, it's not that hard to believe that they're at each other's houses often.

As far as his picking that time to visit, it's entirely plausible that Delia called him and told him Ash was coming home for a visit.

Meh, Oak probably considers Ash a "grandson" to him, like Gary is his real grandson.

That's why he's always there to greet Ash.

They live pretty far from each other (as Pallet goes). It's apparently somewhat of a dash to get to the lab from Delia's house.

And despite the fact that Delia seems to be friends with at least a small group of Pallet citizens, she's never seen with anyone but Oak.
