Prologue
“Get the h*** out of my life.”
“No.”
“Leave her alone.”
“No.”
“Everything I say you will answer negatively?”
“Yes.”
“Then I guess I will have to cease your existence.”
“I really doubt that.”
“Of course you do. Because your whole life is doubt.”
And I couldn’t deny that that was true. Because, ever since the turn of events, doubt was the main factor in everything. Even my agony was doubt…..
“And your death will be doubt. Prepare to die.”
I took my final breath, and closed my eyes.
Chapter One: Speed and Pain
The trees were even a blur.
As I ran with all the power that was built within my four legs, there wasn’t anything I could see that wasn’t pure speed. Once I saw one thing, it would fade behind me and then something else would appear. I noticed a rock in my path, jumped over it, then forgot completely about it. I was vim and vigor. Nothing that got in my path would survive my speed.
I laughed. The air rushing behind my in cool sheets reminded me of when I was a puppy, alone in the world, unsure of the nature around me. A tree was my biggest fear. It was so big. I didn’t understand that some things had to be bigger than myself. That’s just the way the world works. Anything that is bigger than you over powers you. Sometimes. Sometimes you defeat things that you are subordinate of. Its rare though.
My ally is speed. I am faster than most wolves. Just because my speed is strong, doesn’t mean my other stats are weak. I have a very keen eye, strong attacks, and a very sharp wit. Everyone envies me. I can see the envy in there eyes before they die. Why can’t I kill like that? They wonder. Then that is their last thought.
As happiness flowed through my body, I realized that it wouldn’t last for long. In joys triumph, it dies slowly, and in its death, pain replaces it. It is a vicious cycle, but I have been through it so much I have learned to live with it. Agonizing never solves anything, I used to think, only embracing the things that pain you solves things.
And I could feel its’ death now. It was burning my joy, paining my stomach. The anticipation for it to be over was mesmerizing. I stopped my running, my feet sliding onto the grass. I waited anxiously for it to be over. My wish didn’t come.
I know why the pain was there. It was all because of my past. My past transfers to my present. My realization of this slowly built out through the years. Each brick of faint realization built and made a big wall, and there is no way you can see through it.
The pain was a curse placed upon me. When I was only a pup, my parents abandoned me. As I stumbled alone into the world, everything looked weird. The blades of grass below my feet were like needles. The ancestors of the world, the trees, were like menacing towers. My pup life was fear.
One night, I found another wolf. I was excited, I thought it was my mother. I walked over to her. “Mummy!” I cried. She didn’t answer. “Mummy? Answer me mummy. I miss you! I wuv you mummy!” She still didn’t answer. I looked at the depths of her face.
She had beautiful black fur, and startling blue eyes. They were so shockingly blue against her black fur, it was like the sun coming up in the middle of the night. They were so bright. Her legs were long, perfect for agility reasons. And, as I studied her more, she seemed to be larger than normal wolves.
“Mummy?!”
She finally answered me, but I couldn’t understand her answer. “Joy hath bring this pup, but joy fade and in death, pain.”
“Mummy? What do those words mean?”
“I am not your mother.”
“Then who are you?”
“Just remember me as you are older as the one that cursed upon you pain.”
And as I blinked slowly, trying to understand, but she was gone.
And now I suffer. It was so confusing then, and now it is clear. Someday, I knew, the pain will go away. My life is indeed laid out on a blueprint. Whether it was life or death, I wouldn’t know. But it will come to me in time.
MORE TO COME!!
