CNN/Money article

While generating revenue is the goal of any sensible business owner, it seems very selfish to do so at the expense of others. A small motel owner may have to find another line of work if a Marriott is to be built.

I believe I have a very general grasp on the principle behind eminent domain, but the more I read about it, the more I think it's an overall bad idea.

In an ironic twist, Supreme Court Justice David Souter's property in New Hampshire has been suggested for use as a potential hotel.

Eh, it's capitalism. I hate to condone it, but in the broad scheme of things, this is nothing. Wal-Mart alone is responsible for more crap than ALL of the places mentioned in the first paragraph of the article. But it's LARGELY ignored. I've chosen to just ignore all the business crap. It keeps my head from exploding ten times a day. Eight's enough for me, thank you very much.

I've dealt with this crap personally. A developer wanted much of our property to build houses. Fortunately the jerk went bankrupt.
