Hi everyone! Welcome to EmperorofPaldea's art thread! I'm not really sure how to begin this, so let's just jump in.

I've been working on some art for the Poly Paxton AU for Legends: Z-A, and I have official art of Paxton (as of his biography) ready for all of you to view! This is Paxton's Champion outfit, which he wears when he's performing his official duties as Champion of Kalos. The outfit is mainly based on Zygarde's Complete Forme, but I added a heart motif to symbolise Paxton's love, compassion and generosity.

Taunie Tranmetsewlive - Official artwork
Official artwork of Taunie Tranmetsewlive, head chef of Restauraunt Tastopolis!

For this one I gave her a modified version of the outfit worn by the Chef Trainer class in Pokémon X and Y, with Zygrade green accents added to signify her status as head chef. The hat was taken from the arcade game Pokémon Ga-Olé, modified with a green stripe.

Naveen Tranmetsewlive - Official artwork

His outfit is mainly based on the classic artist garb, but with Zygarde green as the primary colour. I initially considered keeping the original orange of his hair accessories for the non-green stripes, but decided for a complementary blue-purple instead.

Lida Tranmetsewlive - Official artwork
Rounding off the Tranmetsewlive parents, here we have Lida Tranmetsewlive, head teacher of Zillions of Moves Dance School!

I changed her haircut to a ponytail because I thought it would add a sense of organised, dynamic flow to her design, and I went with a two-piece instruction suit with bottoms incorporating the Zygarde green colour motif. I also gave her a tattoo to do something with all the empty space her skin provides. It's meant to be a stylised representation of the Eternal Flower, the ends of the red stalks having a P, N and T for Paxton, Naveen and Taunie respectively.

Seine Tranmetsewlive - Official artwork
The eldest child of the Tranmetsewlive family, Seine Tranmetsewlive is the Champion of the North Lumiose League Club and my first original Pokémon character design!

I gave them blonde hair and red eyes as a visual indicator they are not a biological child of the Tranmetsewlive parents - not that they don't love them any less for it. I also wanted to find a way to incorporate the shape of the Seine River in Paris - which Seine Tranmetsewlive is named for - into their design, and so I shaped their haircut after the Seine's course. And their shirt has a Master Ball motif applied to it.

Loire Tranmetsewlive - Official artwork
The co-head of Controllers Gals, Loire Tranmetsewlive, graces your screen for the first time!

Like with her sibling I incorporated the shape of the Loire River, which Loire is named after, into her haircut. Since Loire is a gamer I decided to make her design a giant Game Boy homage. Her shirt is based on the original Game Boy, the colours of her striped pants recall the original five colours of the Game Boy Color, and her shoes are based on the Game Boy Advance.

The Tranmetsewlives' resident racer, Naissa Tranmetsewlive is here!

I wanted to give the triplets each a feature from all four of their parents - in Naissa's case: Lida's skin tone, Naveen's eyes and nose, Paxton's hair and Taunie's hair accents.

I threw in a few references to speed-based things in her design - her haircut is based on Sonic the Hedgehog's quills and her shoes are based on Sonic's Power Sneakers. Also, her Rhyhorn racing outfit is based on Ash Ketchum's Rhyhorn racing outfit from the seventh episode of the X and Y anime, modified to include the Zygarde green colour motif and the MZ logo.

Vie Tranmetsewlive - Official artwork
Say hello to the Tranmetsewlives' gardener and putting star, Vie Tranmetsewlive!

Vie inherited Paxton's skin tone, Lida and Taunie's eyes (she has heterochromia) and Naveen's hair colour. I gave her two pigtails shaped like leaves, and I decorated her head with a Gracidea flower. Her love of the outdoors is symbolised using the pattern on her shirt, showing fresh green grass and a rainbow.

Finishing up the Tranmetsewlive family, we have the detective of the house, Mort Tranmetsewlive!

Mort inherited Naveen's skin, Paxton's eyes and his mothers' hair. Since Mort loves detective stuff and adores Emma I decided to give him a replica of Emma's detetctive outfit, modified withn the Zygarde green motif and MZ logo. He got it initially as a birthday present for his fifth birthday, and has been given new ones by his Papa as he grows.

Moving on, we have the first non-Tranmetsewlive character of the Poly Paxton universe - Canari's daughter and co-head of Controller Gals, Cardinal Ornithur!

I decided to go for something a little simpler with Cardinal's design. Because she is named after the cardinal bird, I gave her a bright red hoodie to reference the male cardinal bird's bright red plumage. And to contrast with Loire's use of Nintendo imagery I added the four PlayStation symbols onto the hoodie. In-universe these are from the GamePort, the Pokémon world's equivalent of the PlayStation. Why are the symbols the same, I hear you ask? Plot convenience, that's why.

Her brown hair and freckles are inherited from her biological father.

Z-A Trainer Mega Stones

So I recently read this fanfiction over on Archive of Our Own where Paxton, Taunie, Naveen and Lida discovered four new Mega Stones that allowed them to Mega Evolve themselves, and that inspired me to create Mega Stones for most of the Legends: Z-A cast.

Basically everyone except AZ and L, because Mega Evolving them after the incident with the Ultimate Weapon sounds like a recipe for disaster.

It's been a while since I did a new Poly Paxton character design, so here's the next one. Here we see Nelly Sewham, Naveen's younger sister!

Since Nelly is a schoolteacher I gave her a simple dress that a teacher would normally wear. Now when I think of a school in the Pokémon world, Naranja and Uva Academies from Paldea are the first institutions that come to mind, so I referenced them by giving her dress a gradient of the orange of Naranja and the purple of Uva.

I also wanted to try some new things with my character designs, so I gave her some features I haven't used before in character design - the glasses, curly hair and lipstick, to name three example.

Paxton's Wardrobe

Paxton's Champion uniform isn't the only set of clothes he wears. He has quite a few different outfits in his wardrobe, all hand-crafted by Naveen. From left to right:
  • Champion uniform. This is the uniform Paxton wears whilst acting in his role as Kalos Champion. As already stated in his artwork, the outfit is based on Zygarde's Complete Forme, with a heart motif added to symbolise Paxton's love, compassion and generosity.
  • 1st casual outfit. This one is based on the Holo-X apparel from the Mega Dimension DLC.
  • 2nd casual outfit. This one is based on Zygarde's 50% Forme, in its Shiny colouration.
  • 3rd casual outfit.
  • Formal outfit. Paxton wears this for dates and when attending any formal setting where is not acting in his role as Kalos Champion. It's essentially just a simplified version of his Champion's uniform.
  • Winter outfit. This one is based off of Zygarde's 10% Forme.
  • Swimsuit.
  • Pajamas.
 
Taunie's Wardrobe

Here is Taunie's wardrobe. From left to right:
  • Taunie's work uniform. As stated in her artwork the uniform is based on the outfit worn by the Chef Trainer class in Pokémon X and Y, with the addition of Zygarde green accents and the MZ logo.
  • 1st casual outfit. This is a modified version of her original Legends: Z-A outfit. The crop top has been made shorter, her shorts have been traded for longer pants to look classier for an adult and her original shoes have been traded out for boots. Also Taunie has now outgrown her mother's jacket, so she now wears it around her waist typically.
  • 2nd casual outfit, based on Jett. The shirt is based on Jett's hair and the shorts are the same colour as Jett's dress.
  • 3rd casual outfit. The pattern on the shirt is meant to be a stylised representation of the flower wielded by Eternal Flower Floette when it Mega Evolves.
  • Formal outfit.
  • Winter outfit, based somewhat on Urbain's outfit.
  • Swimsuit.
  • Pajamas. The image on the pajama top is a stylised image of Hotel Z.
 
Naveen's Wardrobe

Unlike the others Naveen has a whopping five work outfits, which he uses for when he's engaged in each of the visual art disciplines. From left to right:
  • Naveen's painting outfit. As stated earlier his shirt is striped to invoke the classic artists' garb. The is a stylised mugshot of Red on the shirt as a nod to Red sharing his name with a colour.
  • Sculpting outfit. The shirt is mainly grey to reference the colour of actual stone, while the tan colour is taken from the icon for the Rock type. The pants are red with black dots to reference the look of granite, and the off-white of his steel-toed work boots references the look of marble. The goggles are Zygarde green,
  • Photography outfit. The shirt is pale yellow to reference the natural colour of silver bromide, an important component of photographic film. The blue-green of the jacket references Viola from X and Y, who uses that colour in her design, and the light blue of the shorts is taken from Perrin from the Scarlet and Violet DLC.
  • Sewing outfit. Not really much to say here.
  • Animation outfit. It uses a film reel motif, while the colours reference Luke, the aspiring filmmaker from the Black and White anime.
  • First casual outfit. This is a modified version of his original Legends: Z-A outfit.
  • Second casual outfit. It's very colourful as I imagined that would fit a visual artist well. There's a dichotomy here - the shirt uses warm colours and the pants cool colours. The shoes are brown, made by mixing all the colours.
  • Third casual outfit. This one was based on the outfit of Valerie from X and Y.
  • Formal outfit.
  • Winter outfit, based on Mega Scrafty.
  • Swimsuit. The colour of the suit is taken from normal Scrafty's baggy pants skin.
  • Pajamas.

The next Poly Paxton character design is here - Adam Shiro, Ivor's adoptive son!

Here he is wearing the gi he uses when training at the Justice Dojo. I gave him a mullet and added some spiky details to his hair, and that black dot on his cheek is meant to be a mole.

Lavender Belham - Official artwork
Lavender Belham, the aviation fan and mute member of the Controller gals, is here!

As she is an aviation fan her outfit has an aviation them to it - her shirt and shoes are sky blue with a cloud pattern and her skirt references the numbers on airport runways. I considered a few different hair colours for her but eventually decided on red hair - Lavender is my first character design with red hair if I recall correctly.

Polaris Astrella - Official artwork
Here is the artwork for the Controller Gals's astronomer, Polaris Astrella!

Her outfit is based on the southern sky for the most part, and the stripe on her pants references the various colours of stars. Her earrings and shoes were given sun and moon designs to reference Pokémon Sun and Moon.

Lida's wardrobe. From left to right:
  • Work outfit. The pattern on the shorts is inspired by the Dive Ball.
  • First casual outfit. The pattern is based on on the famous Japanese woodblock print The Great Wave off Kanagawa.
  • Second casual outfit. This outfit is based on Mega Starmie.
  • Third casual outfit. This one has a music motif to it to symbolise Lida expanding her horizons past just dancing to music. The shirt has a music staff (which is based off of Team MZ's battle theme), the trousers are patterned like piano keys and the shoes are patterned after violins.
  • Formal outfit.
  • Winter outfit. This is based on the outfit of Tierno, but with the stylised Vanillite swapped for a stylised Vanilluxe.
  • Swimsuit.
  • Pajamas.
