Greetings and salutations, everyone!

Being a fan of Bulbapedia's fast and accurate account of what's up in the Pokémon world, I'm surprised I didn't join here sooner, but now that I'm among all of you lovely people, I'd like to introduce myself:

"Prepare for trouble

As my username implies, I'm Mandy - and a very hardcore Pikachu fan. Chances are if you're here reading my post, you've already read the title of this thread and have therefore learned that I'm an aspiring screenwriter. What you might not know yet (if you haven't already read my profile) is that I'm a student through Full Sail University's online program, studying Creative Writing for Entertainment and pursuing a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. My dream is to one day work for The Pokémon Company and bring this ageless franchise and past-time to a whole new generation of kiddos.

I look forward to a myriad of new experiences among serious fans and getting to know some of you personally.

I'm a bit slow getting started on new forums between my coursework and gearing up for a Pokémon League meeting on Monday. I didn't even know it existed until yesterday!

Ghost: If you read what I posted before to you - scratch that. I'm looking for the best way to learn how to EV train in both Generation IV and Generation V. Smogon is a bit confusing and too hard to join the conversation when I don't know much about competitive battling. Could you perhaps point me in the right direction in these forums? Preferably with articles to read? I'd certain appreciate it.

jokool: It's nice to see another hardcore Pikachu fan, too! I recently had a discussion with a friend, and she claims that I got sucked into the hype. I base my love for Pikachu solely on the friendship and team work aspect between it and Ash. It was, perhaps, the best and most positively represented relationship between cartoon characters during my childhood, and I have a deep respect for that. Also, is your avatar by any chance from the Pokémon Puzzle League game for N64? :)

Yeah. Ash and Pikachu's friendship is one of the main reasons I like Pikachu so much as well!
I've always liked how Ash and Pikachu get along so well together. Their friendship is like the best friendship you'll see out there!

And yes, my avatar is from Pokemon Puzzle League. I've actually never played it before. I just used the pic because it was the best one I could find online that had Pikachu wearing sunglasses. I didn't even know that the pic was from Pokemon Puzzle League when I first started using it until someone on here told me.

I need to use this as evidence in my on-going discussion (which has now turned into a friendly debate) that I was not sucked into the hype and that there are indeed people who look that deeply into the series and see the significance of their friendship.

One a side-note: Pokemon Puzzle League is a really fun game if you like Tetris, and also, looking back on how so many people love Pikachu as well, I feel rather cheated that it doesn't have high enough stats to stand up to competitive battling... Well, at least that's what I've heard. I don't know much about the subject at all.

BTW: I do like Tetris! :XD2:

Back to Pikachu, I've also never liked how weak they made it in the games. They should have given it better stats. But at least they have items like Light Ball and Eviolite to help out.
