Suggestion Episode scripts?

Well, I was on a Futurama website the other day. Apparently, they had links to episode scripts on the site. Where you can actually go and read the entire script for each Futurama episode. I thought this was really cool!! ^^

So, I was thinking Bulbagarden could do the same thing for the Pokemon dub. We could have a sub-forum in the Anime forum, where there could be a collection of scripts for each dub episode!! =D

I think this would be a nice resource for fans of the Pokemon anime. It could be especially useful for people who write fanfics, and for people who just wanna know what the characters have said in a certain episode (without having to go back and watch the episode in question).

What do you guys think?

Of course, the staff would have to find someone who would be willing to copy down the script for each dub episode. And yes, I know it would take a lot of work and a long time before we'd have a complete collection of the scripts. But I was thinking, it could be a work-in-progress kinda thing.

You know, we could start off small, with only having the scripts for season one, then season two, and so on (every year, we could gradually increase the amount of episode scripts in the collection). But anyway, I thought this would be a nice idea. =)

Do you realize what your asking? That's A LOT of scripts. I mean, it can be done I guess but I doubt a lot of people would be up for it. I myself don't even have the resources.

Yes, I know. That's why I said it'd take a lot of work, and a lot of time too. Unfortunately, that makes this idea very unlikely to happen...

But hey, it's just an idea. And it IS possible. But you're right, you would need to have the proper resources for something like this. ^^;

I was thinking if someone had enough time on their hands to do this, we could at least have the scripts for season one right now (and then later, we could have the scripts for seasons 2 and 3). And if this could actually happen, that would be really cool!!

But anyway, this is just something I thought might spice up the anime section, and draw more attention to it. So there's no worries, if this can't be done. =)

You know....I'd actually be willing to do this for the dub...except I would need a lot of help. I'd be ok with the dialogue but there's descriptions as well ("Jessie and James are wearing...something weird"...yeh idk) LOL.

Would that be possible for us to do the scripts of the Japanese version though? I know the old episodes of the Japanese version are raw, and most people here don't understand Japanese. XP

But if that could work, it would be interesting to have two different archives. One script archive for the dub episodes, and another for the Japanese version. That would be cool!

As for volunteering, well, I do have the first box set of season one, plus the Orange Islands box set. And in addition to that, I have both box sets of Master Quest, along with some single DVDs of seasons 7 and 8. I could help out, however, there's just one problem. I may not be able to help out much with this project, since I'm already a Bulbacast cast member. And a lot of my time will be spent working on the Bulbacast as well.

But, if you need someone to look over and proofread the episode transcripts after they've been written, I can do that! ^_^

Yeah, I could easily manage that task! In fact, I've memorized most episodes from season 1 through 8, so I happen to know the scripts very well. Hehehe. XD

So, if I see anything that looks wrong with the script, I could point out any errors or mistakes that have been made. =)

I would totally do it. I used to write scripts for a .hack fansite (for .hack//Sign), however dead the site is now. Though that series was much shorter, and it's tedious as hell, I kind of like it! Problem is that I don't own any of the series, besides some DVDs and some subbed episodes I've downloaded. But if I happened to obtain them, in whatever questionable way you please, I would be more than happy to help!

Sorry Lisa, but I'm going to have to veto your idea. An episode script constitutes a significant portion of the episode as far as copyright law is concerned. We'd be opening ourselves up to legal action, and I'd rather not do anything that would put Bulba at risk.

Aw, sadface. That occurred to me, but I suppose I'm too comfortable with CC now to realize, hey, Pokémon might be copyrighted. That's copyright law for you, though, seriously. If they aren't going to allow transcriptions of the show, it might be nice if they published some.

Oh well! If it's ever legally possible in the future (snort), I'll still do it!

Well, if doing something like that is illegal, I guess that also makes it sort of illegal to post direct quotes from the episode. Considering you would be posting exactly what the characters have said, which would be like stealing parts of the script. But apparently, posting the entire script is a lot worse.

But knowing Pokemon USA (or rather TPCI), they would never do something nice like that. >_<

They don't even have special features on the DVDs anymore...

Copyright law permits quotations of excerpts for the purpose of commentary, criticism or review, so no, that's perfectly legal.
