As we know, a filler episodes consist of a episode where nothing of interest happened during the spam of this episode that contributes to other episodes.

This thread is to count the episodes that whose debatable status as a filler could be discussed or episodes that aren't filler because a thing that happens in them:

For example, I'll put episodes that we know that aren't fillers:

-Day Care episode with Layla (last dub episode): This debut isn't filler because Giovanni confirmed that he will be in Unova for Project Tempest.

-Axew episode in the league: That episode isn't filler because we saw the outcome of the 3rd round, show that Ash will be battle Stephan, we will show Imotaro, we show character interactions that happened in the rest of the league and we saw the start of Ash vs Stephan.

-The Opera/crossdressing episode: This episode wasn't filler because Cynthia tells Ash that the Unova League takes place in Higaki City and she tells Iris that she'll be passing throught Opelucid City but Iris wanted to go through Village of Dragons.

And one episode that you could consider filler except for one thing (and if you only see the dub, that's true): "Pikachu's Goodbye"
-This episode wasn't filler because the episode represents what could happen to the show because of the Pokemon Shock incident. The episode is a representation that the Pokemon show was about to end abruptly because the Porygon episode but the writers will give to the show another attempt to bring back the show to the fans. Fopr this reason, the episode sserves as a finale episode of Piakchu (The show could have ended) but at the end Pikachu returns to Ash (the Pokemon show is going to continue). Remember that when the Porygon episode aired, the schedule doesn't list the existence of this episode everywhere.

It's the only episode that we know that they took 3 months to do the episode form start to finish. A record, specially in that date. That was possible only because the production of new episode was almost stopped at that time.

A lot of episodes are technically fillers with just one small important even in them to make them important.

DP was probably the biggest offender in this, where random fillers would be used to teach a Pokemon a new move, (like Buizel's Ice punch, or Turtwig's energy ball), and be used in further episodes.

Which is exactly what makes the term filler one of the most overused terms by the Pokemon fanbase.

How about the last episode of the OS? That episode led to the next episode of the new AG series and Pikachu got the electric symptom disease - which followed into the next episode - and, therefore, isn't filler, despite it being called one in the title of a current thread.
