Contest Espeon vs. Umbreon

I'm surprised no one made this one yet.

Espeon and Umbreon, the original pair of light and darkness. Both are Eeveelutions intoduced in the second gen. And, interestingly, they both recived updates to their officail artwork with the release of FireRed and LeafGreen, as opposed to most Johto pokemon who didn't recive artwork updates until HeartGold and SoulSilver.

However, this is where similarities come to an end. Espeon is a fast, powerful, and frail special sweeper, while Umbreon is a wall, primarily on the special side, and has little in the way of offensive power or speed. Umbreon fills a unique place in standard, having access to moves such as payback and toxic, while Espeon is outclassed by Alakazam in almost every way and is only seen in NU.

So, which one do you prefer?

Which one would win in a fight?

Personally I have to go with Umbreon all the way on this one. It I always feel like Umbreon is the unappreciated twin who's overshadowed all the time.

As for looks, that one's close, but I have to give it to Umbreon.

Umbreon is definitely more useful.

Umbreon would win. High special defense + payback = Espeon fainted.
 
Umbreon...it's EPIC! But Espeon is awesome...Why isn't there a both option?
 
There's also the fact that Umbreon has a friggin' IMMUNITY to psychic. Really not a lot of a contest when faced against each other.

Signal beam. But still, Umbreon would win.
 
I have to say Umbreon. Mainly because I prefer defense over offense...and i think it looks cooler. But Espeon is nice too.

Umbreon for all the above. I do like Espeon though.
 
Umbreon. I like its defensive stats and he is a good Baton Passer.
 
Unless it is a shiny Umbreon, Espeon wins. And personally, I like using Espeon more. Not to say I don't Umbreon. He's good in a battle too (Mine's name is Morgan), but I just like espeon more. Read my userpage on Bulbapedia for the full story.

Which one would win in a fight: Well, Dark types are Immune to Psychic moves. I think Umbreon would win.

Overall: Wow, a tie.

I could not agree with you more.
 
both rule, but Espeon just can't compare to Umbreon. Umbreon would obviously win in a battle. It looks way better. The shiny form looks way better. Idk, Umbreon is just the superior pokemon to me.

I wouldn't be so sure about that. I once went up against a Modest, Life Orb Jolteon with Signal Beam. It was a three hit kill against Umbreon. That's pretty profound. Espeon has higher sp att, so it might be a two hit, but I don't know.
