As we all know, the 10th anniversary of the release of Pocket Monsters Red and Green is drawing near.

One of the things we will be doing to celebrate this is to publish a collection of essays on that topic, in conjunction with the launch of a new section of Bulbagarden.

  1. The main title of the essay will be Ten years of Pokémon, but you must also give your own subtitle to the essay.
  2. The essay may be either fiction or non-fiction - please indicate this on your submission. Fiction and non-fiction will be judged seperately.
  3. Write at least 400 words, but try not to write more than 3,000 for non-fiction and not more than 7,500 for fiction.
  4. Write in English.
  5. You may submit up to 3 essays in total.
  6. You must submit your entries before Saturday, February 25, 2006 PST. (3AM Saturday EST, 8AM Saturday GMT, 6PM Saturday AEDT)
  7. Submit your essays by private message to me.
  8. Your essay must not be published in any form before February 27, 2006.
  9. 3 - 7 non-fiction essays and 1 - 3 stories will be published; however, this depends on the number of submissions received.
  10. The best writers will be invited to contribute to this new section - even if their essay does not get published.
  11. The decisions of the judges are final.

Are there any questions about what to do? I cannot promise to answer all queries about the nature of this new section - I would like to keep it secret for a while.

To whom is this open? Mods, admins, BMGf members, non-members?

Who are the judges?

Everyone is allowed to participate. However, judges will not be allowed to score their own works. (More on this later.)

I have yet to select the judges. I certainly won't be on the fiction judging panel though. I hope to have a panel of (at least) 3 judges for both categories.

Reminder: you have until the end of this Friday to work on your entries - it must be in before Saturday, February 25, 2006 starts on Pacific Standard Time.

16 hours and 10 minutes remaining from the time of this post.

You can post it on Bulbanews if you'd like, Neku.

Please take the age of this thread into consideration in writing your reply. Depending on what exactly you wanted to say, you may want to consider if it would be better to post a new thread instead.
