Ev or Iv

so i have heard of EV and IV training pokemon and i wondered...
Which one is where you train your pokemon for 230 or some points or something to make their stats higher?
And
How do you tell if the pokemon you are battling will give you a point in speed or attack???

You tell by going on Bulbapedia - the EV yeild of a Pokemon is listed on the bio on the right of each page. EV training is the one where you train your Pokemon. (hint: use the simple question thread next time instead of making your own one).

EV is with the 252 points. train on starley for speed, and machop for attack. (they are both under level 10)
