Hi guys, I would like some tips on EV Training, and I want tips from Trainer who have had a good amount of experience on EV Training.

I've been EV Training a Garchomp in HP at level 50 (started at level 50 'cause that's when I found out about it), I read from somewhere that you can tell that it is done EV training in a stat when you level up and you realize that the amount of IVs you get is low, now, I leveled up the Garchomp from level 50->58 and the amount of IVs I got was 10 (got 10 IVs at level 58), I level it up to level 59 and I got 5 IVs, I leveled it up to level 60 and 61 and I got 4 IVs; does this mean that the HP are max now? Or should I continue to level it up?

I also want to EV train it in Speed, so should I use stat reducing berry before I EV train it in speed, or should I just start EV training it in Speed when I feel like it.

Can't wait for someone to rely >:D

P.S. Didn't know where this topic should go, so I posted it here.

If you are trying to properly EV train, don't rely on the stat changes to tell you when to quit. It is true that if you have accumulated a large amount of EVs before leveling up, you will get a large gain when you finally do go up a level. The best way is obviously to count the EVs as you accumulate them.

Again, if you want to do it right, you need to always start from 0 EVs, or from a number that you know. If you are going to EV train a Pokemon that has random EVs on it, you should clear it out completely before starting.

To do a 6 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe Garchomp, I would recommend the following procedure. First, clear any EVs on the Garchomp. Then, infect the Garchomp with PKRS. After that, use 10 Proteins and 10 Carbos to put 100 EVs in Attack and Speed, respectively.

Those steps, clearing any EVs, infecting with PKRS, and using as many Vitamins as you can to get you started is a good way to begin any EV training you will do.

After that you simply need to find a good spot to battle to get the rest of your desired EVs. For speed I usually use the trainer with 6 Magikarps near Eterna city. If you equip the Power Anklet and have PKRS, each Magikarp will give 10 Speed EVs. Therefore, battle the trainer until you have killed 15 Magikarps to end up with 250 EVs. Then remove the item and fight 1 thing in the wild that gives speed (Starly or something), to get to 252.

Similar thing for Attack, except there isn't a perfect trainer to do it against that I know of. I usually chain something that gives attack like Shinx or Machop. Same deal, defeat 15 holding the Power Item for Attack, then remove the item and get the last 2 EVs.

For HP or wherever else you are putting the 6 remaining EVs, just battle things in the wild to get them. 3 Bidoofs for the HP or something.

The biggest thing about EV training is to make sure you know the EVs when you start, and to count carefully. Try to get exactly to 510 and then get the Effort Ribbon. That will help make sure you counted correctly. You can apply the general tactics from the Garchomp explanation to other Pokes, just substitute different vitamins, power items, and things to battle against.

Good luck...

0_o I don't think I want to erase all of the EVs that I game my Garchomp in HP. Is it alright for me to do, maybe 2-4 EV battles (in HP) and wipe out my Garchomp's speed and start EV training in that stat?

P.S. I understood your whole post.

You can do whatever you want, I just figured you were going for max speed and attack.

It would be fine to max out Speed, leave some in HP, then put the rest in attack if that's what you want to do. You always want to select the EV spread you are going for before you start, so if your goal is to have Some in HP, Max Speed, and the rest in attack, then you'd be achieving that by doing what you just said.
