EV Training

hey guys & gals. lol

well i was honestly hoping could explain to me how to exactly "ev train" in gen V
or any gen tbh..

i know where to train for each stat. but i honestly dont get how you know when u reach the max "ev's"..

could some1 tell me?

for example if i want 255 att ev's do i hav to kill 255 patrats? or is it more complicated?

plz explain haha

to make this thread a lil more interesting, do you care if you pokes or ev trained? if so wheres your fav spot to train them

What you do is you battle specific Pokemon that have the EVs you want your Pokemon to have and KO those Pokemon only to EV train. You can only have 510 EVs total. 255 in a single stat. Yes, it Rattata gives out 1 Attack EV you must KO 255 Ratattas. However if the Pokemon has Pokerus it doubles all EVs earned in battle meaning you'd get 2 EVs instead of 1 and if it has a Power Item attached it gains an additional 4 EVs after the battle, Pokerus would double this. These things make EV training easier. This should really be asked in Simple Questions, Simple Answers though.
