So, yesterday I hatched my first shiny pokemon!
It is a Shiny Charmander, female and with modest nature.

According to the analysis made by the guy at the Gear Station, it is:

If the IV total is between 121 and 150: "This Pokémon has relatively superior potential overall."
If the highest IV is between 26 and 30:"It's fantastic in that regard." For Special Attack.

I think it's got potencial for competitive battling, what do you think?

Her current moveset (But she's at level 1 so it will change...)

-Growl
-Fire Fang
-Flame Burst
-Flamethrower

Also, where can I train her for Special Attack? How do I train her for the first levels? Does Exp. Share allows the pokemon to get the EV points too???

Thank you!!

Or you can just go to Celestial Tower, since the only residents there (Litwick and Elgyem) give Sp. Attack EVs.

Exp share does work with the EV training.
Reference:
Serebii.net Games - Effort Values
check section:"When is the best time to start EV training a Pokémon?" and it will specify using exp share when EV training pokemon.
and celestial tower would be the best place to EV special attack state plus theres a nurse there to heal your pokemon while training there.

Thanks!
By the way, how do the feathers work? How many EVs do they give?

Feathers give 1 EV.

I sent you an invite to the P.E.V.E.T. Check out the articles, they may help you.

WOW Super awesome hatch! Modest Nature will give a 10% boost to SP . ATT. , and a 10% decrease to Attack. Although you should focus on a Special Charizard. They have a better movepool for it.

If you do not already go to the battle subway and get the Power Lens. This will give your Charmander a +4 SP. Attack EV Boost.

You should go to Celeistal Tower to EV Train for SP. Attack. Litwick and Eleygem (however you spell it) give 1 SP. Attack EV + 4 more if your Charmander is holding the Power Lens.

But your Charmander is to weak to fight right? Then just switch it with a stronger Pokemon that you do not EV train for the kill, it will give him the 5 SP. ATT. EVs and allow him not to die either.

Make sure you get 252 EVs in SP. ATT. No more. Once you get him 250 EVs (50 Battles) you will have to have two more battles. Without the power lens. Then go train some other Stat. I would suggest Speed. Your choice though.

Feathers Give one EV. But they work past 100 unlike vitamins.

If you ever need anything just ask.

My personal experience with my Charizard:

Modest nature, its characteristic is Mischievous. Not shiny D: I put 252 EVs in Special Attack, 252 in Speed and 6 in HP. His defenses suck, but given he kills almost anything that doesn't resist any of his attacks, well... Its moveset is the following:

-Flamethrower
-Air Slash
-Dragon Pulse
-SolarBeam (I'm willing to change it for Roost, but I don't have the TM anymore; I already used it on another Pokémon of mine =/)

To train it, I got Pokérus and I applied 10 Calciums and 10 Carboses to him before I started. That already gave him 100 EVs in both Special Attack and Speed. Then, I put the Power Anklet to it and defeated 15 Starly. Each Starly gave me 10 EVs because of the Power Anklet + Pokérus. 15 x 10 = 150, + 100 I already had from the Carboses = 250. I removed the Power Anklet and defeated one more Starly to get the 2 EVs left I needed and that was it: 252 EVs in Speed. I repeated the same process but instead of killing Starly I killed Gastly, and instead of making Charizard hold a Power Anklet, I made him hold a Power Lens. After all that, I defeated 3 Bidoof to get the 6 missing EVs.

I explained it as thoroughly as I could just in case you didn't know how to train your Charizard, and to tell you a way of training it more quickly. Sorry if it was hard to understand, but that was the best I could do. Good luck with your Charizard!

P.S.: I trained in Diamond, hence why I found Starly, Gastly and Bidoof. In Black, if you want to get Special Attack EVs, go to the Celestial Tower and kill some Litwick (1 EV each), and for Speed, go surf anywhere to find Basculin (but remember Basculin gives 2 EVs!).

So, I didn't know how to count EV's correctly, but I used the Power Lens + Pokerús (Gave her all the Genius Wings and Calcium I could) and beat like 50 Litwicks and Elgiums) then I gave her all the Swift Wings + Carbos I could then fought all the Joltiks and Swanna I could. All of these without beating any other poke. So according to the girl in Opelucid City, she's maxed out in effort.....I think I did it right, lol.

Current Stats LEVEL 38:

HP: 116
Attack: 67
Sp. Atk: 134
Sp. Def: 78
Speed: 113

What do you think? It's my first ever EVed pokemon! xD

If that is all you did then you're almost there. You probably went into overkill. Here's what I would do. Take a Hondew berry and a tamato berry and use one of each. Then use 7 genius and swift wings.. (In theory you can check you have ev'd right by using saving, using three more and checking that you get the "have no effect" message. You can use four more wings in your chosen stat. And then you should be fully EV trained.

Check Serebii's IV calculator and the guides on Marriland and Smogon, it's how I learnt.

I just did, but for some reason it tells me:

"Charizard Lv.38 does not compute!
Speed (113) should be 81 to 92.
The Effort Points or Nature may be inaccurate."

Hidden Power: Fighting

What am I doing wrong?

@Luthien; I can't tell you because you haven't given enough info. I suspect you haven't put the EVs into the calculator.

I don't know how much EVs I have given to each stat.......I know I have already given the 252. But that's all! :S

Sounds like you did it right. Now to get some real progression with stats level it up to 100. And you will have a great pokemon.

Thanks! Will do

I have another question, yesterday I was looking for a Sneasel to breed for shinyness in the GTS.....and recieved something incredible awesome!

Sneasel, male. Level 1
Pickpocket
Jolly

-Ice Punch

Should I try to breed it? Or should I just train it?
I would LOVE to have the pickpocket ability.......but I can't seem to find a way to. Or should I wait for a Female Pickpocketing Sneasel from Dreamworld and then breed it for Jolly? Hmm what to do?

You NEED a female to breed the ability down. Male Pokemon can't pass down their DW abilities.

Hello there. I have a couple of questions. I have an Onix with the ability Strudy, then I like to evolve into a Steelix. Should I EV train an Onix before evolve itno a Steelix,or not. Like this...

Ability: Strudy
252 HP/220 Def/ 36 Sp.Def

and for the moveset would be like...

Stealth Rock
Earthquake
Gyro ball
Roar/Dragon Tail

Question 2. If I like to have a wonderful Milotic, should I EV train a Feebas first, or I should evolve a Feebas into Milotic, then EV train it? Are the Uber pokemon are the good things in the Wi-Fi battles,Pokemon World Tournament, Battle Subway, and Video Game Championships? If not, then I understand. Perhaps that the OU aka Overused Pokemon are the most powerful ones in the competitive battle after all.

Question 3. If I were to EV a Tyranitar, should I EV train him in the Uber category, Overused category, or something else? You see, I want to raise them right as I want to stand a chance against the online players. Winning the Pokemon World Tournament to get more TMs from BW2. And for the official matches, and Video Game Championship. the smogon website can help.
