I'm still kind of new here, so I have no idea where to put this, sorry. x_x

I need help EV training my Charizard. He's an Impish Nature, which decreases Sp. Attack and increases Defense, but I wanted to max out his Sp. Attack since the majority of his attacks are Sp. Attacks... Dx Would that be a bad move? x.x What should I do?

Thanks. :)

Also, I'm still a bit new to this EV training since I've never really been a competitive player before. How do you know which stats to max out exactly? o: Does it depend on their Nature? Like my Charizard has an Impish Nature so his Defense is the highest. So does that mean I should max out his Defense? And how do I know which other stat to max out? Sorry for all the questions, but I'm just a bit confused. :c

Oh, and this is on Pokemon X, btw. And I guess I should also mention that he's a Shiny Charizard so that's why I don't want to just breed another one.

You can use the Super Training a the lower screen. It has a tutorial how you use it, but it wants you to train Defence first, so if you don't want Defence, you should use another Pokemon until you get the levels for the other stats. New levels will appear as you clear old levels. The last ones give you 12 EV.

Mega Charizard X has high Attack and Defence however, so perhaps you want to train these stats. It learns the physical attack Flare Blitz at level 77.

You can also look for an IV calculator and see what IV the Pokemon has in each stat. 31 is max.

If you don't want to use the Super Training on the touch screen, you can always use the Hordes to do some EV training (100% chance of hordes appearing if you have a Pokémon with Sweet Scent in your team, like Weepinbell). The list of Hordes (as well as the EV given for each Pokémon in the Horde) is listed here.

The nature only means a certain stat will be higher than normal and another stat will be lower than normal. By no means it will actually be the highest stat of your Pokémon before EV training (I've yet to see a Snorlax with more Speed than HPs). For that, the IV (Individual Values) can define which stat is naturally the highest. The characteristic of your Pokémon (the phrase listed alongside the nature of your Pokémon) defines which IV is the highest. Or you could always go to Kiloude City's Pokémon Center and ask the judge (purple haired guy on the left) to see your Pokémon. He will name the stat with the highest IV.

Since you have a Charizard, there's a good chance it already has gained EVs (unless you used Rare Candies) before the Charmeleon evolved. For that, the Super Training can be useful in one way : if you hit the sandbag enough times, you gain new sandbags. One of them could be the "Reset Sandbag", which basically erases every EVs on your Pokémon once it is hit enough times. Not only this will ease the EV calculation, but that means you will be able to calculate its IV as well. For that, this site will help you calculate them. Be sure to press the "Remove" button to get only one line of level input.

I hope this helped. ;)

Calcium also increases Sp Atk, but is costly. Before XY super training that's the only other available option we had.

A thread that refers to Video Games should go to the Video Games section. A simple question like this would fit the "Simple Questions, Simple Answers" thread.

Thanks for reading.
