Event AREA instead of Pokémon?

Hey,
I've been thinking...since Generation III it seems that each event Pokémon has it's own area or island (Southern Island, Navel Rock, Birth Island, Faraway Island, Newmoon Island, Flower Paradise, Hall of Origin) and to a lesser extent, Fullmoon Island (not an event unlike the others). While it's pretty cool to have these Pokémon have their own locations (shows how legendary they are, in a way), I feel also like it's a bit of a waste; Once you've caught the legendary in that location, you're never going to return there unless you want an egg hatched with that location for teh lulz or to show off. Rather than Nintendo just giving out the Pokémon, which is boring...I thought of this...considering the PokéWalker Wi-Fi events; Why don't Black and White have an event AREA?

Of course, I'm not asking for something huge. Even an area about the size of the Safari Zone Gate in HGSS would be pretty cool. Where you can buy normally rare or unobtainable items, such as Sacred Ash and Griseous Orb, and also catch a few wild Pokémon that are normally rare or unobtainable in the normal came (an example would be Riolu or Eevee). Sure, if they want to add an event Pokémon in there, like a 2% chance of encountering a Jirachi, then they can, but it wouldn't be essential.

I'd love that idea! I've been waiting for them to try that for so long. It is about time that they gave us event areas.

I like the idea of the rare items. I only thought of rare pokemon, but the items would be a nice addition as well.

I want a tropical event area! Don't let me down, GF!

Well, we've had event pokemon, event trainers... yeah, why don't we have event areas? Rare items, unobtainable pokemon... those are good ideas (though I disagree with the orbs. Those do have some mythology to them)

I agree with you.

All these places they conjure up to put hard-to-get legendaries are big wastes of space. Some are really cool y'know! And then boom-bada-bing, we can't get to them any longer. Talk about all that effort for nothing.

"Legendary Hills", where the wild and rare Pokemon roam free (and it isn't a Safari Zone).

Hackers will be the first to get there anyway, so I don't really care.

I think it would be cool to instead of unlock something, actually download something into the game for once, so that hackers will not be able to reach it.

An event area would be something that I'd hate to miss, so I think it is a great idea.

Which can easily be done by programming these games to accept downloadable content. To be honest, I think all events should be handled like that.

They'd still find a way.

Well, we've had event pokemon, event trainers...

Waaaaa? Who? Giovanni?

But yes, I'd like this, as long as it was downloadable, and not unlocked. I hate knowing there's an Arceus in my game I can't get at.

No Ryuu, they won't. Just like in Animal Crossing: Let's go to the city (damn what a mouthfull), they can make it like that that the data just doesn't exist in the game, just an open slot to put it in. This way they can never know what game freak would've planned for it, and just have to wait untill it appears.

This won't work for pokémons however, as that will probably cause trouble when connecting with game that haven't downloaded it, but can certainly be used for area's.

i actuality thought that a few days ago but instead of for what u said it could have like hgss and you could trade lets say a Shinx to emerald (ignoring that this wasn't in them and that GF used pal park instead) and it would send the necessary information for Shinx to emerald (ex how it evolves moves it has sprites ect. and even thought of a way to send full back-sprites over to games with the old head only back-sprite(just put it in game to cut it off at a certain point.

it wont happen (my idea wont anyway) but it be awesome

Assuming there was unlimited storage, or at least a lot of storage, which the storage card may posess, given an 8 Gigabyte card can fit in a size as small as a DS cartridge. If the DS supports firmware to access those large amounts of data, then the game could use a mechanic to download additional information.

If this happened, gamefreak could release new games, and later, give updates to the game based on the new game's features, such as regions and stuff.

My only problem with turning it into DLC is if there happens (and I'm saying "if there happens" for a reason) to be a space issue they will want the memory stick that a DSi can have that all previous DS iterations cannot. Granted, this would also make it so that people could pass around the area through the memory stick (something I don't know if GF or Nintendo wants), but either way I don't want it to be DLC if they require you save it to a memory stick rather than the game's cart itself.

So, I'm fine with the idea so long as the space for it is on the game's cartridge itself, not like the DLC I usually get (stuff from the PSN) which is saved on a memory stick(/hard drive, in the case of the PS3).

You could just call it Animal Crossing: City. :p

I have the game too, I don't play it as often but they have an great way of distributing downloadable content. I was thinking about this too so that even hackers can't predict what they're going to give away next.

... They should do that with the RS Battle Frontier for Black and White!

Event areas? I'd like that. Maybe it could have Pokemon not found normally in the wild (but we don't know what those are. This is just a hunch).

Yeah that'd be cool. I like events that do more than just giving a Pokemon (eg Arceus or the Celebi and dogs to be released). I also think it's a shame that GF "wastes" so much stuff as a one time use. I would enjoy this v much

...if this were an actual idea that Game Freak's using, this is what I'd love to see. The area may have a legendary Pokémon, if not rare or exclusive. But the area itself should add a GIGANTIC chunk of story to the ending of Black and White, so this way we get hours-worth of gameplay rather than only 5-5.5 minutes. Id say it should bring in a new themed story than that which the game may have, to bring more excitement!

Isn't that kinda what the Pokewalker event courses are? Just replace "buy" with "find an infinite amount of".
