Event Pokemon

Ah yes. The pokemon that annoy (most of) us greatly. The fact that it is hard for us to obtain them upsets some people even to the brink of insanity. But I can probably explain why they exist. Events are easy to access in Japan. Most of them are distributed in movie theaters with a movie that features that certain Pokemon. It is a way to make money by getting people to see the movie. But it is also a treat for those that do. I cant guarantee this with concrete evidence but I assume it worked somewhat like this.

Movie 6: Jirachi Distributed (Hence why the Bonus Disk in Japan features Celebi instead)
Movie 7: Deoxys distributed (Birth Island most likely)
Movie 8: Mew distributed (Faraway Island most likely)
Movie 9: Manaphy mission distributed
Movie 10: Darkrai distributed.

Now if this pattern is true, Movie 11 will likely distribute Shaymin and 12 will distribute Arceus.

Unfortunately for those of us in America (and even more unfortuate for those in other countries), event pokemon are not so easy to access. Pokemon like Deoxys are almost impossible to get, (and Celebi/Mew to a lesser extent).

I wish event Pokemon will be programmed into future American cartridges to avoid this problem. It was a brilliant move offering Manaphy in Ranger. I only wish they did the same in Diamond/Pearl. Maybe by the time pokemon opal (or whatever its called), is released, the Japanese event pokemon will be distributed, and Nintendo can freely program these event pokemon into the game.

I agree. I would love to have a Darkrai, but unless some psychotic Japanese person is willing to throw theirs away, I'm not getting [a legit] one. Personally, I don't really like the entire idea of event pokemon. If you can't go, then you really miss out. I would like it better if maybe it happened all over the world simultaneously, (Europe JUST got D/P released three days ago!!!!) If they can't release the movie all over the world, then at least the Pokemon contest thingers (like the one that happened on the 21st at Gamestops everywhere) could give them out.

Haha I remember for that Gamestop thing they were saying that they would be giving out a "surprise gift" or something like that...it ended up being a bookmark XD. I know some people who went there thinking it was the "surprise" Shaymin event. lol

I really do hope they have some Darkrai/Shaymin/Arceus events. Even though I'm 24 years old, I'll still pay for a movie ticket or show up with a bunch of ten-year-olds to get them, since there's no other way (except for cheating).

I feel you on that. I'm 25 and I'd go pay for a movie ticket. Hell, I still intend to go back and watch all the movies I missed. It's been so long since I watched the cartoon. I honestly think that it would be good for me to watch everything I have missed.

I'm only 16, so it isn't a big deal if I showed up at a movie event, but the thing is is that I live no where close to a big enough town to actually show a movie if they did do the movie event in the US. I would love it though if we had some sort of event.
What would be cool is an internet event through Mystery Gift. That I could do

Along with the Mew, Deoxys, Lugia & Ho-oh events in Emerald. (FR/LG as well, minus the Mew event).

It's so odd that in the past, they've kept that stuff in the games but haven't fully used them in America, not to mention Europe and Australia!

With the advent of WiFi, however, I think we'll see a lot of that change. Hopefully, anyways...

Oh, well that is true...but I don't know, this takes even LESS effort for Nintendo to give out events, seeing as it takes like ten minutes of coding and then an hour for a server upgrade for WiFi...

I'm a hopeless hopeful, I guess, sometimes ^_^

Eh, I feel you there...

I mean, going to the events is a BLAST but so many people can't make it, or can't make it on a specific weekend. That's why I think that they should focus on doing more events in more places, or just scrap them all together and use the money to improve the Pokemon franchise.

I thought they announced that Arceus was being distributed this August on one of the Japanese Holidays (the one about honoring the dead IIRC).

Also, there were plenty of Pokemon given out without the advent of a movie. Like Celebi, which was given out on the 10th Anniversary of Pokemon in the US. And HO-Oh/Lugia during Pokemon Rocks.

I don't think the wifi mystery gift works that way. You can trade event items via the wireless mystery gift option, but not through the wifi, to my knowledge.

And as they haven't had any events for these games yet that actually USE those items, there's been no use made of mystery gift for them yet anyway, lol.

As far as event Pokemon go....

I've been VERY lucky recently!!


First of all, I have most of the event Pokemon released in America. I received these Pokemon myself, when I attended their respective events.

And second, thanks to a Japanese friend I met, I've received many Japanese event Pokemon (only one of each so far). ^^o



Anyway, I received an email with a list of all event Pokemon that my friend has, and I must say, I've never seen so many event Pokemon before!! *jaw drops*

I don't know which ones to ask for, as I am not sure what their rarity/value is.... o_o
(if anyone here knows the value of Japanese event Pokemon and can help me out, send me a PM)
