Ever do a whole playthrough like this?

Ever play through a whole Pokémon game nicknaming your Pokémon on one subject? As in, giving them all nicknames that are characters from another Animé show? Things like that.

Right now I'm playing through Pearl again and nicknaming my Pokémon after Japanese mythological figures, and using specific Pokémon at that. So far I have a male Piplup, my starter, names Susano, who was the storm god, a female Chimchar (newly hatches and traded over from Diamond), named Amaterasu, the sun goddess, and a male Murkrow (also newly hatched and traded from Diamond) named Tsuki-Yomi, after the god of darkness.
I also plan to catch other Pokémon and name the strong ones I can find Izumani and Izunagi, and name other Pokémon after other Japanese mythological figures.

I also once did a playthrough of Sapphire naming them after Naruto characters, if I remember rightly my female Treecho named Sakura, a male Pikachu named Naruto, and a male Tallow named Sasuke.

Anyone else do anything like this?

I did a playthrough of Diamond once using the names of Ace Attorney characters. 8D; WHO SAW THIS COMING FROM A MILE AWAY?

...I actually kind of want to make a team doing that again, since I sold said Diamond. <_< >_>

In emerald i name all my pokemon in different languages. My last playthrough was in all Latin, aka Ralts being Boy in Latin, Lotad being Cup, Shroomish being Mushroom. If I get platinum their going to be named in Chinese (Wo Pengyou shi PIPLUP)

i named all my pokemon after their best attacks in ruby.

Once, to be a jerk, I went into my mom's game and renamed them to what they looked like. E.g. Swellow = "Bird", Houndour = "Dog", Pidgeotto = "Bird 2" and so on, but it hardly counts. I've never actually had a theme with names, though. o: That's a good idea! The only thing relatable that I do is that all of my pokémon in Platinum and Diamond have three-character names.

Once I played through a game with then all named after The Beatles. The other two didn't have any names. It was nifty! I remember my cousin taking a picture once and it was like "Ringo used acid!"

I'm not always consistent, but I usually have some theme going on. I diamond, all my pokemon are named after video game characters. In Ruby, alcoholic beverages, Emerald and Pearl, all things related to plants, in Crystal, all words that were 4 letters (not bad ones!), and in platinum I have a star theme (Sirius, Arcturus, ect...)

I'm following a theme in my platinum game: All of them will have names that are two syllables long.

So far my characters are:

Zaza the Monferno
Fufu the Roselia
and Popo the Togetic

Last year, I played through games so often using precious gems and ores and whatnot as my pokemon team's nicknames that it became a habit.
Wore off after a while though.

All the time. In Sapphire, they were all Hispanic names (Josefa, Rafael, etc.). In FireRed, they were all Fire Emblem 9 characters (Gatrie, Nasir, etc.). In Diamond, they were all constellations (Cygnus, Andromeda, etc.). In Platinum, they're all famous composers (Ludwig, Frederic, etc.). I think it makes things more fun. Every game I played before Sapphire? I had the theme of the Pokémon's species in all capital letters. I was boring.

Almost every time actually. Fire Emblem, Rosario+ Vampire, The anime, Naruto, books, and other real life people.

I have a couple of times. My red game (red for the GB, not fire red) currently has a pokemon named for every member of the red hot chili peppers, past and present.

My silver game had the theme of being named after my favorite athletes.

I once played through Pearl and named each Pokemon after the next Pokemon I would add to my party.

I started with Turtwig, called it Staraptor since Starly was the next Pokemon I added to my team. Stary was then named Mismagius, and so on. The final Pokemon I got (Riolu) was named Torterra, after the first member of the team of course.

Things ended up getting really confusing, but at least it helped me plan out my party.

in fr i tried for characters from kodomo no jikan. there werent enough so i started with code geass. i followed that to platinum but i stoped because i started getting bored
