First off, this isn't about trading guys. [: I just want to whine about how easy it easy to acquire Pokemon in the video games, and due to that I'll be using trading references a lot that might seem like I'm asking for a trade or some such. But I'm not. (=

For example... look at the trade forum. It's full of people asking for stuff for just a random POS Torchic and stuff.

I mean, I release that stuff that they're trying to trade for something. Or use it as random crap trade fodder for other more important Pokemon.

All of my in-game teams have flawless IVs and that's 100% legit via RNG abuse. I have no problem with that or others having equally impressive teams, but it just seems pointless to be trading for Pokemon.

I understand item trading, because not everyone has an AR. But, someone just traded me a 100% legit 31/31/31/31/31/31 IV Timid UT Palkia for a Dome Fossil (and he said "it would be nice if I could get a clone of it when you finish the EV training." )

I mean come on. A Dome Fossil got me something THAT good? It's even nicknameable!

It seems like there's absolutely no "economy" when it comes to Pokemon outside of flawless Pokemon and high IV shinies. Even my shinies that I spent countless hours trying to acquire and legit check are now almost entirely useless because of this. :p

Which is why I'm giving them out in battles if you can beat me. XD;

BUT SERIOUSLY, FOLKS! Does anyone else notice this?

Are you some of the people who trade for Pokemon? Who expect something in return for your Torchic? Hell, show me a good battle and I'll give you a shiny Torchic for free.

tl;dr: Pokemon is WAY TOO DAMN EASY. At least getting them. Shouldn't it be harder? That would make competition... actually competition. Not something that you can get just by going on Shoddy.

Trades should be conducted via the trade center. However, If this is some event you're running, I thunk there might be a subforum there, or you can take this to the blogs
tl;dr DCM is stupid.

Anyways, I do think Aquiring the pokemon is way too easy. For the most part the hard part is battling

Yeah. But for battling you can just use Shoddy. The video games should mean that you're the epitome of proness to be able to battle well... but it doesn't.

RNG means your teams are perfect. It's essentially the same as Shoddy, especially since you can clone and nobody considers that "cheating." It's not any harder. Except for the fact that there are more people to battle on Shoddy, it's the exact same. There areeee more randoms on Wi-Fi though, with terribad teams, and the the GREAT majority of people on Shoddy know and understand how to use EVs and IVs efficiently. (Or at least know how to copy/paste them).

I just wish that the competition was better on wi-fi. I'd really like to lose once lol. Almost lost, but that's to just one person. My win record is like... what? 50+ wins in a row? =/

EHHH. I wish the game was harder. @_@

EDIT: It's... 6:40am. That post is probably a jumbled mass of... jumbleness. You probably won't even understand it. My bad. XD; I tried.

DOUBLE EDIT: Forgot to add, thanks for reopening it. <3 Sorry for any misunderstanding.

Acquiring the Pokémon is about as hard as it should be for legendaries and the ones with similar catch rates. Otherwise, it is a bit too easy. I can hardly remember the last time it took more than one ball to catch a non-legend outside the Safari Zone.

If you want to argue about the battling being too easy, it's probably that you've played the games more and more, you know your way around the park and thus you can thoroughly thrash the game that's built to be moderately challenging to first-time players in the targeted age group (around 8-12, depending on who you ask). Veteran players of high school age or older would obviously have no problem handling the metagame on most accounts.

EDIT: Then again, upon a more thorough read, I don't abuse the RNG or use cheating devices of any kind, so my perspective might differ. I also don't spend hours of my life poring over IVs, so take that as you will.

I once traded away my Bold, decent IV Lv 1 Feebas for an Alakazam. That being said, I don't understand.

I traded away my lv80 Weavile and got a lv90 Shaymin in return with a Leichi Berry with the moves Sunny Day, SolarBeam, Earthquake, and Leach Seed

I forget his nature and stats but it s nickname was Shay Shay

the game itself isnt challenging anymore, just takes a long time to level up pokemon

I don't think they're too easy at all. Mind, I'm not exactly a "hardcore gamer" or whatever. Pokémon is the game I play most, and sometimes I don't even bother with it for weeks or even months. I also don't try to use AR or anything to my advantage and just play it as it is, so I do have to trade normally to try and fill the Pokédex. Therefore, I don't think it's an easy game.

One of the main points of the game is trading. I don't really think that makes it too easy.

I believe that the game is unfair to the point that it creates an illusion of difficulty. RNG abuse simply removes this peudo-difficulty.

For me, it's just boring no matter what you do, until you get into competitive battling.

Ok...
"Fisherman So-and-so sent out Magikarp!"
"Luxray used Thunder Fang!"
"It's Super Effective!"
"Magikarp Fainted!"
"Luxray gained n exp!"
"Fisherman So-and-so is about to send out Magikarp! Will player change pokemon? Yes/No"
Repeat another 5 times.

You get the idea.

Pokemon is not a difficult game in any form. There is not really any measure of skill. The "peak" of pokemon would be competitive battling, which is incredibly linear and basic/based hugely on luck. A game designed for kids that is based around pressing an a and b key for slow, turn-based combat cannot really be considered "hard" in any gaming environment.

It's a fun game though.

I don't really get what you're saying is 'too easy'. Is it aquiring good iv'd pokemon through trading, or just plain trading? I think I'm missing your point.

Depends on what you mean by "easy." For me, it's the battling part (most of the time).

No, I mean sure, when I am landing a helicopter one handed into an already terrorized building with debris, fire, gunmen, and poison smog everywhere as I go through the terrorized office dodging bullets and firing back at the snipers because they know too much about what the true intentions of Congre-NEVER MIND- I still make time to shoot them to the point of overkill, dance in victory, rescue the people and take them all to the roof, search for any more people, rescue a kitten from a tree, then when we gather everyone on the roof I drive them back to their homes with airplanes and professional sky divers as I record each of their story for the president - but not before singing Paparazzi for my latest fans and then the president actually comes up and tries to grope me so I kick him out the plane and he . . . let's just say even the president can't sprout wings (Sorry setsuna) and then I land the plane in water and swim 8 miles to shore ALL WITHIN THREE HOURS AND PLAYING POKEMON WITH MY OTHER HAND (I've been doing this all one handed, remember?)

Still, with all of that, it's not THAT easy. IT'S THE HARDEST PART OF MY DAY!!

Effing Rofl'd.

Sorry it's hard to understand guys. xD;

Basically what I'm saying is that the game should be harder to get so damn good at. For damn good Pokemon you should be playing Shoddy. The best of the best should have flawless Pokemon, not EVERYONE and their mother.

An easy way to make the game harder is make the game consist of nothing but Magikarps that can't evolve! XD

I usually don't evolve my starters. When Diamond and Pearl came out I HATED Prinplup and Empoleon... so I got my Piplup to level 100. <3

So... GameFreak should take out things like RNG abuse, and modify breeding slightly to make it even harder to get perfect IVs? I understand what you're saying. Sort of. It's like WoW or FFXI. The games have been running long enough for every one to pretty much understand what's going on except for the people who joined within the past year (And mostly young people at that).

In other words, we all have the same armour and swords, and there's very little variation, causing very little economy, since essentially, you can, EVENTUALLY, get exactly what you want, and sadly to say, within a very realistic time frame. (Most of the Pokemon you can get on your own too... And that's not even considering having multiple games and DS's...)

Right?
