Hi guys. This is a topic that has been discussed some times in the fandom, but I haven't seen it on the forums in a while so I might as well create a new one. The explanation is simple, say which evolution methods you'd like to change as well, I think most of us want to get rid of the Trade ones but try to think of an unique and creative replacement that respects the Pokemon' biology. Have fun!

All of the trade evolutions that require held items should be changed to work the same way as the Razor Claw and Razor Fang, simply having the Pokemon hold the item when it levels up.

The other trade evolutions should have a different way to evolve them, too. Wouldn't it make sense to evolve Haunter by using a Dusk Stone, or Phantump with a Leaf Stone?

Barring the potential for using any stones to evolve certian Trade evolution Pokémon like the Gengar line, I'd do what Legends: Arceus did and have some Link Cables be obtainable and use them like evolution stones. If you want it to be a later game item or something you have think about for a time, maybe only have it available later in the game or price it pretty high at a late game store so it won't be too easy to get a ton of them quickly.

Runerigius. Make it level-up the fact they doubled down on the “go under a random bridge/arch/structure” in the DLC for Z-A pissed me off cause that Method is so random, it’s not enjoyable if anything keep the damage make it like how they did white striped basculin in SV

Here are my suggestions. Trade ones will be spoiled as I'll get rid of all of them. I also plan to get rid of many evolution items as they occupy space in the bag.

  • Metal Coat: Steelix, Scizor
  • Learning Sharpen: Porygon2
  • Dubious Disc: Porygon-Z, Electivire, Magmortar

  • Level 36 at night: Trevenant, Gourgeist
  • Level 40 + Electro Ball: Alolan Golem
  • Learning Dragon Hammer: Alolan Exeguttor
  • Learning Heal Pulse: Chansey
  • Learning Waterfall + level 35: Magikarp
  • Learning Aqua Ring + level 35: Milotic
  • Using Fairy Wind 5 times in the same battle: Sylveon
  • Level 36: Meganium, Feraligatr, Torterra, Mienshao, Bisharp, Decidueye, Incineroar, Primarina, Rillaboom, Cinderace, Inteleon

  • Metal Coat + level 50: Melmetal

Oooh good thread topic!

At this point, given the retroactive Ice and Leaf Stone methods for Glaceon and Leafeon respectively with the removal of the location rocks post gen 8, I think all the other post gen 1 Eeveelutions should be naturally fit to evolution stones. I think the stones just naturally fit Eevee in terms of being biologically affected by the stones, plus the friendship method for them can be frustrating and confusing (particularly when a single fairy move will automatically default it fo Sylveon even if you're going for Espeon or Umbreon)

The common sentiment from what ive heard from others and I agree with is something like this:
  • Espeon - Sun Stone
  • Umbreon - Moon Stone
  • Sylveon - Shiny Stone
Espeon and Umbreon's dexes also specficly say they evolve from the respective rays of the sun and moon, so it just fits perfectly.

Now all that leaves is the Dusk and Dawn Stones, so GF better getting working on those new Eeveelutions

Fire Stone: Daschbun
Ooooh I love this one in particular lol. Super clever
