Edit:I dont like them because both of them look lame and there are far superior ground types available
Talking about gen5 ground types, i like krookodile the most..
Overall i like garchomp and swampert the most..

I have to give my vote to Sandslash based on design alone. Excadrill is clearly superior to Sandslash competitively.

Excadrill clearly wins here, due to it's movepool and stats. It's drill can pier- you know what I mean.

I vote Sandslash for being a classic, although Sandslash is outclassed by Excadrill, I've always prefered the design and originality of Sandslash.

To be honest, I never really cared for either of the two Pokemon.

However, I absolutely hate Excadrill (for reasons I don't really feel like addressing), so if I had to vote for either, my vote would go for Sandslash.

Yes, that exactly!

I voted for Excadrill as well. Though I trained a Sandslash instead, I still find Excadrill to look a lot cooler. It's Ground/Steel typing also give it the added defense in battle (though that's where Sandslash can one-up it).

My little sister, on the other hand, trained an Excadrill for her team and even named it Simon, after the main character from the anime Tengen Toppa Gurren-Lagann (and thus the piercing of the heavens, heheh). I find it to be one of her more annoying Pokemon to bring down when we battle, so it definitely has its merits.

Both are cool, Sandslash is cuter, but Excadrill has better stats and typing.
