Hey everyone, this is a question for people who have been to a foreign country, in particular Japan.

I know a Japanese women well, (she lived with us for 2 years, and is kinda like a big sister to me) and I wanted to go and visit her, and Japan in general. Now, I only have a month or so of school left, and next year I wanna do an apprenticeship as a baker, (I've already worked at one for 2.5 years now) and I wanna tell my boss what I'm doing next year soon, before Christmas, (he told me he wanted a new apprentice by next year, and he says that he'd much prefer me to getting someone off the street)

Now, after that long-winded, and probably unnesecary (wow, I really can't spell) explanation, here's the question:
Would I be better off doing the apprenticeship and then with my time off go see my mate, or going to Japan as an exchange student for a year/half a year, (please note, I was interested in the country before I started watching anime, in fact, I first watched anime because someone said it would help you learn Japanese)

Basically, I'd just like others to share their experidences in visting other countries, what you liked, and what you'd do differently if you had the chance.

Thanks in advance,

Liam
