So, I'm creating a trio of fake games: Pokémon Topaz, Opal and Onyx. I've talked to an admin because I'm not sure where I would put a description of these fake games. LightningTopaz said this is fine for now. I'm gonna add new information on a regular basis.

These three games take place in a region called Otosho, which is on the same landmass as Kanto and Johto, but is the northern side. I'll post a map as soon as I can make one! Otosho is strangely different from the other regions, as different areas of the region are constantly locked in respective seasons (similarly to Fiore).

This is because the two legendary Pokémon of Otosho, Invintrumn and Versumian, control both the cold seasons and warm seasons, respectively. They were created by Mew to control the advance of growth and death to create a life cycle. Unfortunately, these two Pokémon constantly warred over who would control the seasons. Nothing grew for the first thousand years on Poképlanet, so Arceus was forced to step in. With the help of his lieutenant: Mew, they locked Inivntrumn and Versumian away so that they couldn't war again, and set the current season cycle of sixth months of cold and six months of warmth. They also set three other Pokémon (Ceruatol, Ambrumus and Brunsward) to police Otosho and make sure that the two would never awaken.

The mere presence of the season Pokémon in the Otosho region divided the region into four different areas, each of which constantly experiences a different season. Winsnow Island, a large island in the north reaches of Otosho, is locked in winter. The Everautumn Peninsula, which juts off of the mainland, is always autumn. The Springbloom Meadows experience nonstop spring. Finally, the Sultribalm Highlands is constantly summer. This heat even caused the glaciers on the southern mountains to melt, flooding the northern part of the Sultribalm Highlands and creating the Azure Islands.

Invintrumn and Versumian are the mascots of Topaz and Opal, respectively. Onyx, the third version, has a mascot called Terminia. Terminia controls night and day, and is the master of protector trio (Ceruatol, Ambrumus and Brunsward). She lives on Mountreat Ridge, which wraps around Sheltridge City, which is constantly locked in night because of the ridge.

The villainous team is called Team Nightfall, who are trying to awaken Invintrumn and Versumian so that they may war again. They wish to destroy the protector trio so that they can enslave the season duo. With control of the seasons they could then rule Poképlanet and restrict the diet and movement of the citizens, so that Team Nightfall would control the lifestyle of every citizen to build their goal of overtaking Arceus as rulers of the universe.

More information to come!

So Otosho is between Kanto and Sinnoh?

We get a landbridge. Nice.

I think if this storyline ever did become a game, I probably wouldn't like it very much. Although at first glance down it doesn't seem like it, this is actually very similar to the storyline of Ruby and Sapphire which was rubbish because it was way too Legendary centric.

This also has a problem that was massively featured in DPPt - it's way too mythology based. Arceus had to step in because of the problems these two were causing? It all just seems a bit weak if you ask me. Also, the games tell us that there is not one Mew (I preferred the idea that there was just one, but apparently that is not the case)

All in all, your idea for a game, in my opinion, uses everything that was wrong with Generations III and IV without including the good things they brought to the franchise.

Don't get your panties in a bunch, I didn't even work out all the kinks in the storyline yet, nor is this the whole storyline. And it's not like this is a real game. XD Thanks for the criticism though.

Jeez. Don't tell me I'm not getting my panties in a bunch, I'm just trying to tell you what I think the problems are with your idea. To your credit, you thanked me for the criticism, but I was under the impression that this is the kind of thing you post so you can feedback - positive as well as negative. Personally, I don't like the idea. It's not like I just came on here and flamed you, telling you you were shit, I told you exactly what I didn't like about it.

It is supposed to be that sort of thing, and I'm sorry that I sorta snapped at you. ^_^U

It's just I was annoyed that I had posted a sort of "rough draft" kind of idea and you came in and picked apart a work in progress. That's not the complete storyline like I said. And probably why it's Gen 3-4ish is because those are my favorite generations. But I digress. Let's stop aruging. Water under the bridge.

But it is an interesting idea, no?

BTW: The Otosho Map is almost done, I'll post it tomorrow along with details about the first two cities.

Apology accepted. And I apologise because I feel I was a little harsh as I only mentioned the things I didn't like about it. It is certainly an interesting idea, I think if you can make the different seasonal towns unique enough then it may actually work. Anyway, I will be checking up on this as it is a workable idea.

Personally, I don't see why Legendary-centric games are a problem.

Come to think about it, I fail to see how the game's plot was "way too" Legendary-centric at all. Just because it centers around those two doesn't mean that it's "way too" centered around them. One that would be "way too Legendary-centric" would be one where they're mentioning the legends left and right. Which they don't until basically the last chapter of the plot.

As promised, here are maps of the Otosho region!

Town Map view:

Orange routes are regular routes, tan routes are trails with special names, grey routes are bridges, and blue routes are water routes.

City names:
nxuiH.png

1: Oakforest Town. In the middle of the Kansho woods. Starting town and rival's hometown.
2: Shorboro City. Built into a cliff face with the ocean crashing below. Tutorial City, contains professor's lab.
3: Sheltridge City. Constantly night due to Mountreat Ridge. Contains first gym: Dark type, lead by Bethany.
4: Mountreat Town. Built into Mountreat Ridge. Resort town with famous views. Contains second gym: Rock type, lead by Petra.
5: Coastbridge City. Contains the Great Azure Bridge, the only access to the Azure Islands. Large mining operations in the southern part of the city. Contains the third gym: Steel type, led by Andrew.
6: Azuria City. Totally underwater, the buildings are protected by large plexiglass bubbles. Contains the Department Store and Game Corner. Contains fourth gym: Water type, led by Lazlo who titles himself as "Azure Commander".
7: Nordice Town. Snows constantly because its island, Winsnow Island, is constantly winter. Sparsely populated, no Poké Mart. Contains fifth gym: Ice type, led by Alice.
8: Glaceburg Outpost. Built into the Invice Plateau, just west of the glacier fields. The only residents are scientists who study permafrost fossils. Sixth gym is here (Ground type), but it is actually not a gym but a research center. Led by Dr. Dustin.
9: Edgefall City. Built on the border between the Everautumn Moutains and the Springbloom Meadows. Contains no gym, but has the base of Team Nightfall whom operate as a front called "Equinox Industries". Also contains the TV broadcast station for Otosho.
10: Springbloom Town. Surrounded on all sides by the Springbloom Meadows. Constantly spring, and closeby to the tomb of Versumian: the Vernallow Ruins. Contains seventh gym: Grass type, led by Serena.
11: Everautumn City. Capital of the Otosho Region. It is built into the side of Mt. Granite and is sometimes called the City of Peaks. It is surrounded by orange-leafed trees and is closeby to the tomb of Invintrumn: the Autumnbelisk Ruins atop Mt. Granite. Contains the last gym: Variously typed, led by Evan. Also contains the entrance to Victory Road.
12: Beachcove Town. Home to the final test for trainers, the Otosho League. It is constantly autumn, and the sea is always chilly and cold. The Otosho Elite 4 are:
Erin (Psychic)
Tristan (Fire)
Spectra (Ghost)
Jet (Fighting)
Sawyer (Champion, Various types) Sawyer titles himself "Azure Commander" like Lazlo. They are twin brothers.

What follows are PE4 areas
13: Brawlpality Town. Trainers come here to prepare for the Battle Frontier to the south. Also contains the first gauntlet of the incredibly hard Azure League: Wraithriddle Cave, filled with Ghost and Dragon trainers and led by Cave Chief Spencer.
14: Battle Frontier. Frontier Brains are:
Power Plant Head Paulina
Train Stationeer Samuel
Radio Broadcaster David
Space Astronaut Alyssa
Palace Princes Nathan and Joel
15: Vulkstone Town. Contains Mt. Darin, the second gauntlet in the Azure League, a gauntlet of Ground and Fire trainers which ends with the Volcano King Alexander. Also contains the Rematch Building, where any gym leader, elite 4, frontier brain or gauntlet leader can be rebattled.
16: Retrislet Town. Similar to Platinum, it contains the Villa, a home won by the player after beating the Azure League. Also contains the third gauntlet in the Azure League: Buoyrig Blimp, filled with Steel and Flying type trainer and led by Blimp Engineer Duncan.

After beating Buoyrig Blimp, to beat the Azure League you must go to the Villa. There you will have to rebattle Cave Chief Spencer, Volcano King Alexander, and Blimp Engineer Duncan in that order, with no breaks. Then, the last challenge of the Azure League is a double rebattle against Azure Commanders Lazlo and Sawyer, from the Otosho League. Winning gets you the Villa and eighty thousand yen. Losing means having to redo the final challenge.

Special Areas!
5v1px.png

1: Eventide Temple: Where Terminia can be found, PE4 in Topaz and Opal, and in-plot in Onyx.
2: The Safari Zone and Pal Park. Don't even pretend you don't know what these are. :b
3: Verallow Ruins. Where Versumian is awakened in-plot in Opal.
4: Autumbelisk Ruins. Where Invintrumn is awakened in-plot in Topaz
5: The League. Description above under "Beachcove Town".
6: Azure Ferry. This is where you catch a ferry to Nordice Town.
7&8: Soulsands and Melancoast Islands, Nintendo Event places where the Legendary rulers of Love and Sorrow, Aphrodoten and Hadespont, can be caught.
9: The Sinjoh Ruins. Otosho is the same culture as Johto, and was once considered part of Johto. Thus, the Sinjoh Ruins are here, accessible via Nintendo Event.
10: The Miserfond Inn. A mysterious inn that can only be entered with the Shadow Key, a Nintendo Event item. Inside is an old man who will row his boat to either Soulsands Island (Opal) or Melancoast Island (Topaz and Onyx).

Okay, here's the division between the different sections of the region:
1ZIfH.png

White: Springbloom Meadows. Always spring.
Hot Pink: Everautumn Peninsula. Always autumn.
Orange: Azure Islands. Always summer.
Magenta: Sultribalm Highlands. Always summer.
Dark Blue: Winsnow Island. Always winter.

Tomorrow brings two things: route numbers/names, and if you submit a request for info I haven't covered, you'll likely be filled in tomorrow.

I'm interested. You've given a very good tour of your region. Will you give us any new Pokémon in a future update? I hope so!

One question - how do you create your region map so it looks like the maps from Platinum? I'm just wondering.

Yes, I've decided to post the starters tomorrow. Otosho features mainly Johto and Kanto Pokémon, however.

I took the colors off of the Sinnoh map and made my own in Paintbrush. (basically MS Paint for Mac)

EDIT: Please disregard the Town Map View map above. It has some MAJOR route coloring mistakes. Please use this map instead.

Please excuse the double post!

Okay, here's the information that was requested.

Route numbers:
JWslm.png

The numbers of the routes follow directly from Johto because they're part of the same landmass. The Azure Islands have their own numbering system because they're... different. That and it prevents having number split between two nearby areas.
Special Notes:
*Sometimes called the Great Azure Bridge
**Victory Road
***Falleaf Trail
†Eventide Trail
††Vernallow Trail

Also, for the starters I wanted to do something different, so the starters in Otosho are a Fighting-Dark-Psychic trio. They evolve at higher levels than most starters, because they have two final forms. After beating the sixth gym, you are given the Mystical Necklace. If your Pokémon holds the necklace in a specific spot and levels up, he will evolve. Here's their names at least, I might request some sprites from a shop later.

Psychic Type
Lemystik (Psy) -Lv 21-> Kinesimian (Psy) -MN at Route A2 :: 52-> Rheshiver (Psy/Ice) :: Rhesinge (Psy/Fire)

Dark Type
Crookitty (Dark) -Lv 23-> Theifline (Dark) -MN at Route 53 :: A1-> Felalloi (Dark/Steel) :: Feliswell (Dark/Water)

Fighting Type
Rattakel (Fight) -Lv 23-> Blowdent (Fight) -MN at Jadeblossom Trail :: Falleaf Trail-> Molawn (Fight/Grass) :: Moloam (Fight/Ground)

I also have some Eeveelutions planned:
Phanteon - Ghost
Silteon - Ground
Brawleon - Fighting

Sorry for not posting new content in a couple days. Today I have for you some details on the differences between the Topaz/Opal and Onyx.

As usual in the real games, in Onyx the gym leader lineup for both leagues, Otosho and Azure, has changed! However, the changes are much more drastic than in the real games, and instead of being a remake of sorts, Onyx is a direct sequel.

League Lineup TO:
Name - City - Type - Badge

Otosho League
Bethany - Sheltridge City - Dark - Lazarus Badge
Petra - Mountreat Town - Rock - Cliffside Badge
Andrew - Coastbridge City - Steel - Furnace Badge
Lazlo - Azuria City - Water - Sea Froth Badge
Alice - Nordice Town - Ice - Berg Badge
Dr. Dustin - Glaceburg Outpost - Ground - Plateau Badge
Serena - Springbloom Town - Grass - Prairie Badge
Evan - Everautumn City - Various - Granite Badge

Erin - Beachcove Town - Psychic - N/A (Elite 4)
Tristan - '' '' - Fire - '' ''
Spectra - '' '' - Ghost - '' ''
Jet - '' '' - Fighting - '' ''
Sawyer - '' '' - Various - N/A (Champion)

Azure League
Cave Chief Spencer - Brawlpality Town (Wraithriddle Cave) - Ghost/Dragon - Draco Emblem
Volcano King Alexander - Vulkstone Town (Mt. Darin) - Fire/Ground - Magma Emblem
Blimp Engineer Duncan - Retrislet Town (Buoyrig Blimp) - Steel/Flying - Zeppelin Emblem
Azure Commanders Lazlo & Sawyer - Retrislet Town (the Villa) - Water/Various - N/A (Champions)

In the events of TO, it is revealed that the gym leaders Evan and Serena are actually the leaders of Team Nightfall, and after defeating Evan they will try to capture Invintrumn or Versumian. Thankfully, they are stopped by the player and Evan and Serena are encased in the Distortion World by Arceus who steps in after capturing/defeating Invintrumn or Versumian. During Onyx, they join forces with our friend Cyrus, and revive Team Galactic with their combined forces and try to seize control of Poképlanet by capturing Terminia. More on that later.

Anyway, since Evan and Serena were imprisoned, new gym leaders were required, and were imported from the Azure League. Also, Spectra (exchanging her position with her sister Bethany's) and Sawyer stepped down to become top gym leaders as well, worried that they couldn't spot corruption in their own league. Because their gyms became more powerful, their cities moved up in the ranking.

Also, because the Azure League's gauntlet leaders became Otosho gym leaders and a champion, brand new gauntlet leaders are featured in Onyx, along with major changes to the gauntlets themselves.

League Lineup Onyx:
Name - City - Type - Badge

Otosho League
Petra - Mountreat Town - Rock - Archaic Badge
Andrew - Coastbridge Town - Steel - Furnace Badge
Alice - Nordice Town - Ice - Berg Badge
Dr. Dustin - Glaceburg Outpost - Ground - Plateau Badge
Spectra - Sheltridge City - Ghost - Spectre Badge
Lazlo & Sawyer - Azuria City - Water - Flow Badge
Duncan - Springbloom Town - Steel/Flying - Zeppelin Badge
Alexander - Everautumn City - Fire/Ground - Magma Badge

Bethany - Beachcove Town - Dark - N/A (Elite 4)
Jet - '' '' - Fighting - '' ''
Erin - '' '' - Psychic - '' ''
Tristan - '' '' - Fire - '' ''
Spencer - '' '' - Ghost/Dragon - N/A (Champion)

Azure League
Grotto Empress Sarah - Brawlpality Town (Wraithriddle Cave) - Rock/Dragon - Cavern Emblem
Changes to Gauntlet:
Not much has changed in Wraithriddle Cave since TO, but Ghost type has been replaced by Rock type for gauntlet trainers. Additionally, it is led by Spencer's aspiring daughter, Sarah.
Lightning Tyrant Nikolai - Vulkstone Town (Mt. Darin) - Ground/Electric - Thunderclap Emblem
Changes to Gauntlet:
Since TO, Mt. Darin erupted for the last time and then collapsed upon itself, closing the previous gauntlet permanently. Subsequently, Mt. Darin has swelled to enormous size and thunderheads constantly hung around the peak, where Nikolai (Alexander's brother) resides.
Crypt Captain Finch - Retrislet Town (Buoyrig Blimp) - Ghost/Flying - Sepulchre Emblem
Changes to Gauntlet:
Since TO, a thunderstorm strayed from Mt. Darin and struck Buoyrig Blimp, causing it to explode and its ruins to scatter the northern end of the island. This is where Crypt Captain Finch mantains a graveyard and memorial for those lost in the explosion. He is the nephew of Duncan and the son of Johto gym leader Morty.
Azure Commanders Lazlo & Sawyer - Retrislet Town (the Villa) - Water/Various - N/A (Champions)
Changes to Gauntlet:
None. :P

Whoo! That was a mouthful.

This is pretty Interesting
It would be awsome if you could get a spriter to do the sprites

I asked LightningTopaz if I could put this here, and he said yes. Don't believe me? Ask him.

And also, how isn't this fan fiction?
