Fan sites report Maddie Blaustein death: PokéBeach says official confirmation to come Wednesday

Maddie Blaustein, the voice of Meowth in the English-language Pokémon dub from 1998-2006, died while sleeping on Thursday, PokéBeach and Serebii.net are reporting. An official statement on behalf of Blaustein's family and colleagues is expected on Wednesday, according to PokéBeach.

Whilst I didn't know the name, the voice was epic. I wonder if the funeral will be Meowth themed?

Maddie was a class act. If this is true (as is sadly appearing to be the case), she will be missed, and I think the best way to honor her memory is to live life the same way she did- with humor and spirit, even through difficult times, and to never be afraid to be ourselves.

We will miss Maddie very much. :-(

However, I don't think she would want any of us to feel sad....

I'm sure Maddie would want us, her fans, to feel very happy for those wonderful 8 years she brought to Pokemon. During her run on the show, she made Meowth a funny Pokemon, and we laughed at all of his jokes. But Meowth also had a very kind and loving heart, and that's what made certain episodes of the 4Kids dub really awesome (in my opinion). Meowth is a character whom we all loved, and we enjoyed hearing Maddie's lines. This is how I'll always remember Maddie - with those wonderful 8 years she brought to Pokemon. Yes, I'll watch every episode of the 4Kids dub again and again, so I will always remember her amazing work on the show.

We'll never forget you, Maddie. <3

Maddie, we love you. We're sad to see you go. And we'll never forget the awesome work you did on Pokemon. Rest in peace~ <3

Rest in peace? When my grandma died this year we always took that as an insult, lol. THRIVE IN HEAVEN! Rest in peace sounds like they're just in the ground, though I suppose a lot of people believe that too.

Heh, I don't know what to think about an afterlife, but I prefer "thrive in heaven" far more.

God I wish I'd gotten to know her. You people who got to talk to her are so lucky. She always struck me as a great person. I'm sad to say I've just known her for the show, and the most I've done was read through the Q&A at Serebii and a few interviews. But I literally grew up with the show and hearing her as Meowth, and when we'd get those deeper lines, like in the first movie, from Meowth they always struck me. Shuddup, it did. She played Meowth with such awesome heart and humor, but guess that's not a surprise, she herself had a lot of heart and was so funny.

"Thrive in heaven", Maddie. We were lucky to have such a great person around and you left way too soon.

what the hell how did this happen this year fails so hard 1st bernie then don and now maddie why are these awesome talents dying and people like paris hilton, britiny spears and all those morons stay alive

I was really shocked and saddened to hear that she had passed away. She was one of my favorite voice actresses and "Nobody Don't Like Christmas" never failed to cheer me up when I felt sad. May she rest in peace/thrive in heaven.

We will miss you. I'm really proud how you showed your dedication and your love for the fans. The last time I talked to her, she said Meowth is like her child. You're a big loss to the voice acting industry. You are now in a better place.

It is very sad that Maddie Blaustein died. I will always remember her meowth voice.

Quoted for truth.

The good ones always seem to go before we're ready to let go of them... I remember reading after Dale Earnhardt died that God wanted him up there with the best... that's what I always tell myself. That they were so good, heaven wanted them.

I don't think this image could be any more appropriate.

*sniffle* Goddammit.

Maybe we should send cards to 4Kids, given how close she always said the VAs were. I think I'll do that.

I wouldn't believe fansites, but if the 4Kids site is saying it then it must be true because they honestly wouldn't lie about that or go with rumors, not about one of their own employees.

Dammit...I always wanted to meet her. You know, I still have her email in my inbox from years ago...
