On a forum as big as Bulbgarden, it amazed me that there is such a severe number of people posting fanart collected over the interwebs on the forum.
I know people do not credit themselves as to creating said fanart, but as an artist it really dismays me to see my art (watermarked or not) stripped from my dA account or whatever and posted (god forbid EDITED; check the larger shipping threads as such) elsewhere. Just sticking a credit to the original picture really doesn't cut it. Just because it's a disclaimer does not exempt the fact that posting fanart which is not yours without the consent of the author is theft.
I know it creates publicity for fanartists, but in all honesty, Japanese artists and American artists find that this is art THEFT. Artists showcase their work for feedback, for the sake of showing off talent and whatnot. They don't show their work for others to steal. Enjoy their works, certainly, but not steal.
Plagiarism is strictly disallowed in the forums, so why should stealing art that takes careful time and lots of effort be given any different treatment?
Proposition that measures should be taken.
