So yeah.

I was talking with Blackjack about the fanfic section of the site, and trading ideas on what else (besides : a greater variety of story) we could put up there.

We thought we might ask the board as a whole for suggestion (note, again, that a greater variety of story is already a definite, so there's no need to dwell on that one).

So, what would YOU want to see in the site section? What could you contribute to the Pokestories section on the site? (besides fics)?

Author profiles perhaps? You know, a meet the author, kind of thing. Especially for some of the more active fic posters on the site.

We could have a reviewer(or reviewers) who would scour the Pokemon community every week or two and recommend some fics worth checking out, and where to find it, etc., or maybe even have a weekly column giving their opinions on different aspects of Fanfic writing, and the fanfic community in general(I remember Barb did something similar for the "Who Gives A Ship" site) For example, a column about Journey fics as opposed to fics that use the original Pokemon characters-maybe listing the good and bad of both. ^_~

We could also post up a lot of what is written in the advice for aspiring authors thread, because a lot of people just go to the site, and it would just be a helpful little thing to have up.

Just some ideas that might be okay, or might be totally stupid. You decide. :p

A meet the author section sounds like a very good idea. As for the others...

-I had thought of doing that on a board scale (and it would definitely be reviewerS), but perhaps making it community-wide wouldn't be a bad move. It might certainly help getting the community to notice us ;-)

And definitely agreed on the whole columns area. If anyone has columns or articles they wish to write about the fine art of fanfic writing (or writing in general) feel welcome to post them.

What is your favorite genre to read/write?
Who or what are your biggest influences in writing?
What inspired _____ fic?
Your favorite authors?
Your favorite fics?
Upcoming fics?
Other interests and hobbies?
A small biography/backround in the Poke-community...

Stuff like that. ^^

Perhaps we could advertise on this board/around the community so that we could entice other writers to post here? What I find sad is the lack of frequent posters/readers here.

I like the author interviews. And I like the reviewing idea. I'd be glad to offer to be on the reviewing team.

And what about a "Quick Look" section, where one or more of you mods review the fics on this board and write quick little reviews about them, with a link to the stories at the end of the review? It'd be a great way to attract new readers, I think.

Along the same lines, maybe a discussion topic, where we can talk or quote or discuss our favorites lines or scenes from the stories, without having to fill up our story topics?

Just some ideas.

Those ideas are all awesome. Now I wish I had some. ^^; In lieu of ideas, I offer to help in any way I can. I'm looking forward to seeing this flourish.

Why not?
On your fanfiction.net profile don't you have your favorite author and Fanfics listed?
Same thing.
It's not like we are making people list worst author and worst fanfics. That's something *I'd* expect people not to answer.
And favorite author wasn't just going to apply to fanfic authors, but authors in general.
We could also ask about favorite books.
Plus, the favorite author question wasn't meant to just limit you to the authors on the site. You could pick anyone from the fanfic community.
So I personally don't see why people wouldn't want to list theirs. It's not insulting, and it's just that person's opinion. It's not like they are saying "these people are fantastic writers and everybody else sucks!"
