The FF series debuted tonight (it's still on, actually). Anyone else watch? I'd post my own thoughts, but I'm still trying to gather them into something OTHER than just me stammering "why, why, why."

But I'm genuinely curious as to whether this was just me.

I thought it was okay.....nothing special though.

I liked the voices.

Yeah, the voices were good. The characterizations were a little extreme, but still fit. Aside from that, I'm ashamed of it. It felt like they started the series in the middle. There was no origin episode (despite the movie, they're not well-known enough to not need an origin ep, plus it would have better set up WHICH origin it was. As is, I just ASSUME it's the movie origin), the Kree were just thrown in (seriously...I feel like I missed the build-up), and the entire episode felt like it was meant to be a two-parter, but they cut...everything.

And then there's the Sentries. Only thing I can say is that Darth Vader called and he wants his probe droids back. The Sentries went from being impressive automatons to being...balls. No one's afraid of balls.

I agree about the characterizations being a little over the top, I'm hoping that will tone down over the next few episodes. I was also expecting an origin episode, starting the show smack in the middle like that really doesn't work.

Overall, if the show improves as it goes along, it looks like this will be a pretty decent rendition.

Teen Titans didn't have an origin episode until the last season, and that was just an origin of the group, not the individuals, except for Starfire.

Well, it's different with teams like Teen Titans or X-Men. Everyone knows that each character has a separate origin. But with the FF, there's a combined origin. Plus, there are AT LEAST three separate interpretations of the origin. Two of which have come out in the past two years. It's hard to explain WHY, but the FF need an origin episode.

Hopefully, the first episode with Dr. Doom will serve as an origin episode (although, I could have sworn that I read the Doom ep would be the first one).

Yeah. But that really just fueled my own personal need for an origin ep. But, I admit, I'm highly anal-retentive when it comes to comics-based shows.
