what is your favorite region and why?
what do you like and dislike about each region/ adventure that ash has gone on?

I liked Kanto and that series. It was very lighthearted and fun to watch. Plus it had Misty!

i agree, even though the others are better made, i feel that kanto had more magic of pokemon along with greater adventures that concentrate on being andevtures instead of training.

For me, it was Hoenn. It has some of my favorite Pokemon, like Blaziken, Gardevoir, and Absol, for starters. Secondly, May was a breath of fresh air compared to Misty (I reeeeeeally didn't like her, she got on my nerves almost every episode during Johto). Plus the whole fact that May was a co-star instead of a sidekick (Misty). Max was a little annoying at times, but at least he was better than Tracy. And, although I wish May had taken Mudkip and Ash gotten a Torchic AND Treeko, the teams were pretty good. Sinnoh has better teams, but I still like Hoenn better (although Sinnoh is a close second). I wish May didn't have to go, she's better than Dawn, plus she's not as overconfident, which is something I don't like in Dawn (too cocky for a newbie trainer).

So, in short, Hoenn was the clicher. I lost interest during the Johto saga, but when Hoenn came to be, got my attention again. Plus Professor Birch is pretty funny, and TR became comic relief instead of real bad guys. That made it more fun. :ksmile:

Hoenn:

REAL ASS KICKING ACTION! CHA!

Even though Kanto was a classic, I have to say Sinnoh is the best and OI at second place.

I like Kanto the best. That saga acually felt like Ash and co. were getting somewhere and had a great conclusion.

At that time, it felt like it was fresh and new.

I'll have to say Hoenn, because i can't remember Kanto and Johto well anymore. How long has it been since the anime started running in the US? 12 years?

+ I'm watching AG right now anyway.

Max doesn't really bother me.

I can't stand Sinnoh. I don't know what it is, but there's something about DP that just makes me hate it (not the VAs, I can get over that). There's one good thing about it though, it made me want to watch older episodes. When i'm done with AG, I need to start over from the first episode. *thanks CN for uploading them, i'm running out of HDD space*

I really miss watching Kids' WB on Saturdays. Nothing lasts forever, sadly.

I prefer Hoenn. Probably because I sat through an awkwardly dubbed Dutch version of Kanto and Johto...

It's mostly because there was a different kind of vibe coming off Hoenn, which felt fresh and new. May for example. Sinnoh is a close second, with Kanto and Johto not tailing far behind.

Favorite:Kanto and Johto (because it did have a lot of fillers, but there were nothing wrong with all of them, most of the fillers were good classics)

Favorite: Sinnoh (its episodes are really good, but not all of them are perfect, but most of the episodes or all right )

Least favorite:Hoenn(it was good with its fresh start but it got really crappy down the road and could have been better, even the Hoenn League was not all that good or great because it suck, and Hoenn fillers were trash and dumb down the show entirely.

Kanto was alot of fun though i like the other reigons too. But Ash discovering Aerodactyl, the whole Bulbasaur's mysterious garden, going up in the mountains to meet Bruno, wow i loved that series. Not to mention the ghost tower with Haunter, Gengar etc. Plus Kanto was fun because of the arguments that Misty and Ash had, it made it very interesting and funny.

Favorite: Sinnoh. (No contest, as Mitch said, DP rapes the living shit out of the other series.) *decked*

Least Favorite: Johto.

Honorable Mention: Hoenn.

I really liked the Kanto region! There was just something which when I watch it, it just puts a smile on my face.

My favourite has to be Sinnoh, the writers keep getting better and better with how they shape the storylines of each characters and even though it'll be the longest series, it doesn't feel like there were too many useless fillers.

Pros : Dawn and Piplup (a coordinator that actually struggles and is compelling to watch... and her wacky sidekick), Team Galactic (best handled vilain team by far), rivalry with Paul, Ash's pokemon are pretty awesome (Infernape and Gible at the top of the list), Croagunk, better animation...

Cons : Gliscor, lack of variety when it comes to the attacks pikachu and Dawn and Brock's pkemon know

My second favourite would be Hoenn. Ash's team was a swell mix of power and personnality(sceptile, corphish, swellow and Glalie), May and the contest arc was refreshing but not necessarily super well handled (May sorta lucking into contests win and only getting girly cutesy pokemon)... On the flip side, Torkoal was annoying, Max was annoying, and they rushed through Snorunt's evolution. Also, the regionnal team's story wasn't all that well handled and there was more filler.

Third, Orange Islands

Pros : Snorlax and Lapras, the final fight vs Drake at Pummelo, Charizard finally listenning to Ash

Cons : Tracy, 2 out of 4 gyms weren't battling gym, Drake's dragonite knowing 324296 moves

Fourth, Johto

Pros : Totodile, Cyndaquil, Noctowl, Heracross, Panphy... Ash had some great pokemon in Johto.

Cons : Heavy underusage of the Johto pokemon, Ash not leaving his Kanto pokemon behind before going to Johto, Misty being useless, Bayleaf being annoying, Chikorita being even more annoying, Casey (worst rival ever), FILLERS...

Fifth Kanto

In fourth I place Kanto, beause it was the original and I'm nostalgic, but if you actually rewatch the episodes (which I've done recently), it's really not that good

Pros : Interesting pokemon, Charizard disobeying was interesting

Cons : Ash having earned more than half of his badges without defeating the gym leader in battle, Pikachu, Bulbasaur and Squirtle's inexplicable strenght that had really nothing to do with Ash's training, Charmander's rushed evolution, Pidgeotto being treated as a smoke blower and TR finder, bad dub, whole saga felt rushed, Charizard should have started listenning to Ash way before the Orange Islands, capturing more than six pokemon without giving the others any real focus (muk, krabby, tauros), stupid releases (the ones that serve no real purpose, unlike Gliscor's), the list pretty much goes on... Kanto was only good cause I was 7 years old and didn't know what good TV was

Cons : Tracy, 2 out of 4 gyms weren't battling gym, Drake's dragonite knowing 324296 moves

Isnt it interesting that Ash actually won gym battles by other ways, like racing with Lapras? It was completely different to anything we've seen before or since. It was fun. I dont see why everything has to be about battles. Ash had some really good battles in the orange islands vs Drake, Rudy and even Tad.

Fifth Kanto

Cons : Ash having earned more than half of his badges without defeating the gym leader in battle, Pikachu, Bulbasaur and Squirtle's inexplicable strenght that had really nothing to do with Ash's training,

Are there any examples of Bulbasaur or Squirtle being incredibly strong in Kanto without training? Did either of them win a single gym battle? Squirtle's most impressive win in Kanto was in the leage against a nidorino and Bulbasaurs biggest win was over a Scyther in the league. Where was the legendary Bulbasaur and Squirtle strength in Kanto?

Compare that to sinnoh where Buizel can defeat three pokemon in a row including a powerful electric type. Or how Buizel can break team rockets metal cage with snoic boom. Or how Turtwig took a direct flamethrower in the first sinnoh battle without even looking like it was hurt.
