I'm surprised nobody has started a thread like this yet! This is the thread for you to share with the world your favorite royalty of the region, cherry on top of the ice cream of Gym Leaders and Elite Fours.

So, who's your favorite?

Personally, mine is Cynthia. Her appearance radiates feminine elegance, while not being very revealing. Even her clothes give off a feeling of mystery, something that fits such a powerful character. While she only appears a few times, she gives off a feeling of an kind, wise authority figure. The fact she accompanies you to the Distortion World shows a lot of bravery. I mean imagine going to a world that defies the laws of our own, where the only native being is a huge, violent, dragon. No, its not Smaug (>.<). She was also the first female champion, and surely made an impression. As for the champion battle itself, her arena is pretty nice. In Diamond/Pearl, the white seemed to represent purity, and the stage like circle you and Cynthia stand on is very weird and mythical-looking, fitting Cynthia well. However, in Platinum, it is an ominous black, with the weird looking transparent cubes. The Pokeball design in the middle isn't nearly as cool looking as the circle in D/P though. Her theme is impressive, and makes my heart beat every time. As for her Pokemon... Back in D/P, Spiritomb was weakness-less. Just prey to god that it didn't get the boost from Silver Wind. Roserade was pretty strong, and it, along with Togekiss in Platinum, had a surprising move set, allowing it to badly damage a Pokemon you thought could handle it. Examples being sending out a Ghost against Roserade, as many learn Psychic, and getting dat Shadow Ball to the face. Or your Golem getting Water Pulse to the face from Togekiss. And while Gastrodon's only weakness is Grass, its Sludge Bomb won't let it go down without a fight. Lucario is an all around pain in the @ss, and Milotic seems to tank everything. Especially when you try to hit it with a Grass or Electric move, the majority of which are Special, and it uses Mirror Coat. Or trying to use Dialga/Palkia's sig move. Garchomp has powerful moves, and for Ice-Types, Flamethrower or Brick Break. And even though it isn't the best, Giga Impact is scary.

CYNTHIA CYNTHIA CYNTHIA.

Till date still the best Champion ever. Wise, powerful, courageous, and a goddess.

'Nuff said.

Steven, his Metagross trumped me to the point I had to think on a strategic level. Not to mention I adore his savvy businessman character design and professional yet quirky demeanor (e.g. avid geologist).

It's either Cynthia or Steven, I can't really choose... D: They are simply so awesome and, most importantly, nice and not full of themselves.

STEVEN ♥
He's the heir to Devon Corporation, one of the biggest pokemon companies. And he likes traveling around to find stones - which he generously gives away to players like me.

Also, I love his team - it's well-balanced to cover as much weakness as possible, and his Metagross was quite difficult to handle

I love all the Champions a fair bit. I really love Lance, Steven and Iris though. Lance and Iris are awesome Dragon trainers, and Steven is just really cool in general. They all have awesome designs. I quite like Diantha as well...

Cynthia > Blue > Wallace > Iris > Steven > Red > Diantha > Lance > Alder

Cynthia is just the best Champion. Her teams in DP and PT are awesome; I just can't see a Spiritomb or Garchomp and not think of her. Additionally, her theme is awesome (specifically the piano), and she herself is extremely cool and mysterious. She just gives off the essence of Champion. Though, that doesn't mean I don't get tired of her; thanks for not putting her in X and Y, GAME FREAK.

Blue is next because he made his way to Champion. And we actually got to see and be apart of it, so it just felt that much cooler when we first discover that he's the Champion.

Wallace sets himself apart from the other Champions with his elegance and style. Him being at the climax of Emerald and being the one who allows us to catch Rayquaza, then turning out to be the Champion is also really cool. I also liked the teacher-student thing they introduced with Juan. He also did rise from Gym Leader to Champion, but I personally played Emerald before Ruby and Sapphire, so he's more of a Champion to me than a Gym Leader.

I really liked Iris because, like Blue, we somewhat see her rise to Champion status (if you played White). Also like Blue, she's a kid, which is nice to see, she has a cool team, and awesome, unique music.

Steven is also a cool Champion. He kinda gives off the same vibes Cynthia gives off.

Red is kinda just Red, but it is cool to see the cross-generational reference. I also liked that they didn't just give him random-powerhouse Pokemon, but a team that actually shows his status as the previous player. Plus, he has Lance's theme.

I also really liked Diantha. She also had a very cool team and great music, but I would have liked to see more of her in-game so she could feel more like a Champion.

Lance has probably the best music, and we see his rise for E4 to Champion, but it was so hard for me to beat him in HeartGold, that part of me finds it hard to like him that much. He's a cool character, but I couldn't get into his team. He just overuses Dragons, and the same one at that. While it does show him as powerful, fighting three of the same Pokemon in a Champion battle just seems to lessen the experience. I get that there weren't really many options for him as a Dragon user, but could he have at least traded one of those Dragonite for a Tyranitar or something?

Finally Alder; I just never felt that Alder gave off the vibes of a Champion. The fact that he's just stated to be Champion outright by Elesa lessons the feel of actually finding out for yourself through the course of the game. Plus, we don't even get to fight him until after the main story. By that point, he just feels like a late game boss, not a Champion.

My favorite is Diantha... I don't know why, cause she was pretty easy to beat, at least for me, but I liked her design and backstory a lot.

Cynthia, though I like basically all of them except for Lance. Wasn't crazy about Wallace, either, although making him Champion in Emerald was kind of cool.

For a reasonable challenge, as far as I can remember, Cynthia and Iris. They're either just right in difficulty or difficult enough that even if you lost, you wouldn't be too upset. Same for personality, they're the right mixture of cute and powerful.

Cynthia is by far my favorite champion. She's got personality, looks, and style. I also like Lance.

Cynthia is definitely my favorite, I like her style, and I really enjoyed her she was so curious and generally mild, but had strong convictions. It also helped that she showed up fairly often in the plot and interacted with your character a lot.

I'd forgotten about Stephen until I was reminded of him, but I feel generally positive about him as well.

The others are ok, but they don't really stick out to me much.

Since I played Emerald first, I consider Wallace the Hoenn Champion and Steven the guy "so cool he won't stay in the league HQ long enough to keep the title". Cynthia's alright but I don't care for her much at all.

Iris, hands down. I love everything about her. It was a big yet pleasant surprise to see this happen for one, as I liked Iris since BW but didn't really expect this. There was more interesting aspects about her motivations revealed in BW2, and I always liked her upbeat, hyperactive personality. She wins a lot of depth and maturity and she really stands out when compared to the others. Love her new looks in BW2 though I also like her regular outfit. Her song is just really cute and awesome, and I adore her battlefield being all starry! Her team is easily the best out of the semi-especialized Champions as well. She gave me much more trouble than all others. I also find her still childish gestures really endearing. I mean, roaring in her intro? That's just adorable! X3 It was also a breath of fresh air to have another young Champion after so long. Iris is just great and I love her! ♥

Diantha is a close second. I like how there's an air of her not being really fit for the Champion mold. Diantha is really sweet and sort of casual about it, and while we had similar Champions in 5th Gen, she lacks a lot of that depth Alder had and the maturity Iris developed. She also appears very few times compared to other Champions (Iris was featured in two games, so her lack of presence in BW2 doesn't really count), but in the Champion battle, she displays a really kind and welcoming attitude I just liked a lot. I find her pretty as well, and love her theme and the light motifs going for her. Mega Gardevoir was a perfect signature Pokémon for her as well, and it's always good to have non-specialized Champions. Overall Diantha is lovely. X3

Definitely Cynthia for me.

Really enjoyed her character, her design, etc. Not to mention, it was refreshing when she graced the scene as the first female Champion.

iris was slightly off putting for me actually. All other dragon trainers up until her were tough and edgy then there is her. She is a ten year old girl who complains constantly. And as for battling her, I beat her whole team with an under-leveled dunsparce so not really in my top 5
