So, this is a thread that comes up about this time of year every year... Anyone got any favorite Christmas TV specials/movies?

Mine are as follows:
A Charlie Brown Christmas (both of them)- They're just heartwarming, and it's good to be reminded of the true meaning of Christmas. And I think everyone likes them... right?

How the Grinch Stole Christmas- The Chuck Jones animated one, not the mockery that was the Jim Carrey movie. Still hilarious, still completely awesome, still the best songs EVER.

A Christmas Story- "You'll shoot your eye out, kid!" End of story.

The Nightmare Before Christmas- Because Tim Burton is love. And the animation still completely pwns anything Pixar's render farms could ever churn out (stop motion is a dying art, sob.)

Santa Claus is Coming to Town/ The Year Without A Santa Claus- Surprisingly dark, by otherwise sunny Rankin-Bass standards, and EXCELLENT. Good story, sweet animation, and dark by their time's standards as well. Nightmare Before Christmas probably owes a lot to the "holy crap, Santa is teh missing/ in danger" story lines of these two.

Santa Claus Conquers the Martians- Self explanatory. You have to see it to believe it. It's an old fifties B-Movie, and it's in the public domain, so you should be able to yank it off BitTorrent without any problem.

The Ranma 1/2 Christmas OVA- I found an old subbed tape of this at a con. It's as wild as it sounds.

The Hello Kitty/Keroppi anime Christmas specials- not sure how available these are now (unless they were part of ADV's recent re-releases), but they're surprisingly good. The Hello Kitty one is just plain heartwarming, and the Keroppi one is full of hilarity.

And one of these days, I'm going to see the Pokemon Christmas episodes. As soon as I track them down on DVD.

Hey, has anyone seen "Happy Kwaanza Charlie Brown"? That's hillarious, but it's way too offensive for here.

In terms of real ones, Year Without a Santa Claus is awesome. Heatmiser and Coldmiser.

There WAS a "Hey Ya!" Charlie Brown AMV type thing, but the Schultz estate sent the creators a cease and desist, IIRC.

(Off topic, Habunake, is that supposed to be Giovanni or something in your signature? It's been bugging me since I saw it the first time today, and the nose makes it look like another fantasy super deformity or something. It's very.. unsettling.)

This one is the Charlie Brown dubbed over with ebonics and multiple N-bombs.

It's still damn funny, even if I feel guilty listening to it.

X) I remember this, we watched it in our Government class 4 years back since it was nearing Christmas Break and we'd just about run out of material before the break. It was really crafty and just a loop of the crazy group dancing they do set to hey ya. I understand it's the Schultz's property, but I don't see what was wrong with it, it wasn't misrepresenting anything..

Speaking of such, I always love the seasonal Charlie Brown episodes, especially the Christmas ones. I'm just disappointed that I can never be around to catch them anymore, I'm not even sure what channel they come on. It'd be neat if I could catch one for nostalgia's sake.

A Christmas Story: I think two years ago I watched half of the 24 hour marathon of it. That's a hell of a long time to watch it. "I TRIPLE dog dare you!"

Polar Express: Nice story and musical score.

A Charlie Brown Christmas, How the Grinch Stole Christmas (animated), A Christmas Story. Gotta have those.

Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. That's has been my favorite since I was a kid.

Polar Express. A new favorite. I just saw it for the first time last year and thought it was cute. Lovelovelove Tom Hanks.

The Santa Clause. Don't much care for the sequels, but I always loved the first one.

And the following movies that seem to show on ABC Family Channel every year: Snow and Eloise at Christmastime (which has Julie Andrews, who I love). They used to show one called Christmas Every Day or something similar, where this teenage kid had to keep repeating Christmas over and over again. Which sounds dull, but I thought it was amusing. Don't think I've seen it on the air in a few years, though. :/

And any one of the following versions of A Christmas Carol: Muppets, Mickey Mouse, Flintstones.

Oh, this is too easy:

A Christmas Story. I watch it every time it shows up at this time of year. It's just great.

Second is the brand new "Shrek the Halls", namely because it has Puss in Boots. And. I love Puss in Boots.

I'd say the rest is any of the old stop-motion animations for the other Christmas shows. Rudolph and so on. I don't sit and watch them, but I have them on and have it in the back of my head. ...I do hate the new year one with the baby. ...and the groundhog...damn groundhog.

Oh oh, Christmas Vacation with Chevy Chase. Familly Tradition to watch it Christmas Eve.

Ooh, The Santa Clause. That premise of that movie disturbed me as a little kid. Santa friggin' fell off a roof and died in the beginning of the movie.

Favorites include A Christmas Story and all those classic Rankin/Bass specials with Rudolph/Frosty/Santa/etc. Nothing too special.

Almost everything listed so far. It'd probably be easier to list what I don't like. XP

And I apparently liked the California Raisins Christmas special when I was little.

What's the movie with the human family that has a mouse family living in their house that's exactly the same as them? They fix a clock. I love that one but can never remember the name. I have the same problem with the one where Jack Frost becomes a real guy cause he likes this girl and he makes ice money.

"Nightmare Before Christmas" ruled my development. Seriously. It introduced me to the world of music (because Danny Elfman is a friggin genius, let's face it).

And what would the season be without "A Christmas Story"? What words say "Christmas" more than "You'll shoot your eye out, kid"? We got my dad an ornament of the leg lamp.

And how about the *original* Simpsons Christmas Episode? I think it was called "Simpsons Roasting on an Open Fire", and it's the one where they got the dog. I think it was the first episode, too.

Twas the Night Before Christmas.

And the one with Jack Frost is Rankin Bass's Jack Frost.

Digimon 02. Enough said. The Digimon coming flying out out the boxes was great, and so was the World Tour.

I loved that one when I was a kid. I never get to see it anymore. (Wonder if it's out on DVD...?) I was also rather fond of the Garfield Christmas special, too. Don't ask.

I loved watching "How the Grinch Stole Christmas", "Frosty the Snowman", "Twas the Night Before Christmas", and "A Christmas Story" when I was young. I still do, really. I really love "A Christmas Story", though. It's my favorite, hands down; it reminds me a lot of my family, minus the annoying little brother!

Oh, yes, Christmas Vacation. Of course.

The scene with the dad flipping the guy off is priceless.

A Charlie Brown Christmas

The Polar Express

True classics, 'nuff said
