What are some of your favorite console designs in terms of either practicality (size, weight, features), pure looks, or both?

I think that Nintendo has made some pretty good console designs over the past few years. I really like the Wii U, for instance; it has a nice classy and understated design that looks really good in black, and it's small and light enough to carry and store anywhere (unlike, say, the PS3 and Xbox 360). I also like the GameCube with its unique cube shape and that very useful handle, and, like the Wii U, it also looks great in black (or any other color than purple, really). And there's also the New 3DS, which looks really nice with its Super Famicom-like button color scheme and has some good features like camera-assisted 3D and that strange but useful analog nub.

Those are the main console designs I really like right now. And while they certainly have their flaws, I also have soft spots for - get ready! - the original Atari 2600 models (that faux-wood paneling!), the Famicom, the PC Engine (small yet capable), the Japanese Mega Drive/Genesis, the original Game Boy (practically indestructable), the Super Famicom, the Japanese Sega Saturn, the original PS1 and PS2 (blocky in a good way), the Dreamcast (simple and clean), both the PSP and the Vita, the original Xbox 360 (looks like a bigger, taller Dreamcast), the Wii (looks like a blockier, smaller Wii U), and the original slim PS3 (what the first PS3 should have been). Whew...

The Gamecube!

maybe it's partly nostalgia but I get pure joy from that design and it's instantly recognizable at a glance

Gamecube, Wii U (which I also agree looks good in black), 3DS (especially in other colors and skins), and PS4.

PS2 Slim, PS4, New 3DS XL, and Wii U.

Edit: Holy crap I forgot my favorite handheld ever! The Vita also has a wonderful design!

Love the GameCube's design, especially in black. The 3DS looks really good as well.

Although I don't own one, I've always admired how great the PS Vita looks. Really sleek and beautiful IMO, I love the angular and compact design.

The PlayStation 3 slim is a pretty good looking console IMO. And although it seems to be an unpopular view, I do like the Xbox One's design. It's simplistic, but not ugly at all. My only problem with it is its size (it is too large) and bulk. I'm talking about the original Xbox One of course, not the slim (S).

GBA Micro - I had one ages ago, but to me it was much more appealing than the GBA itself, or the GBA SP. I loved being able to sneak it into places when I was a kid (school, etc). Though it mostly has the "it's so small it's adorable" appeal for me.

I actually preferred the DS Lite because to me it felt smoother to the touch. But generally I love all DS systems... except the phat. That was terrible to use.

For other handhelds I also adore the Vita. Such a marvelous system. 10/10

In the way of home consoles I never strictly owned any. So I can't decide.

The PS4 and Game Cube are probably my favorite designs as of right now, with the Wii U placing somewhere behind them. Mainly because the main console looks pretty sleek and nice.

I'm rather partial to Nintendo, to be honest. I love the Gamecube because of how portable it is, the Wii is nice, the 3DS's designs have been consistently good and the Game Boy Pocket reminds me of the first non-edutainment game I played (Pokemon Blue, natch). As for non-Nintendo, I'm fond of the PS2 slim and the first-model PS4.

the Dreamcast (simple and clean)
is the way that you're making me feeeeeel tonight, it's hard to let it go
