I didn't include 7 or 8 since they didn't have real villians, but hey, there's always the "other" option.

I think you can guess who mine was. Though he lacked evil intent, Jirarudan was greedy and shortsighted (not to mention more than mildly delusional), and he wound up a fascinating character to study.

-torn- Wah, so many awesome choices! ;_; ... Butler, then! ^^
But I also like Mewtwo and Annie and Oakley and Molly and Jirarudan... -spazzes-

Giovanni doesn't count? I'd always considered Mewtwo not so much a baddie in MSB... just very, very misguided. In the end, I think it'd be Giovanni, ultimately, who was the villain in that movie. It sounds weird, but look at the facts: he pretty much screwed Mewtwo up into thinking he was nothing more than a freak whose sole purpose was to serve humans. Yeah, it might seem like a bit of a stretch to most people, but I really feel from a psychological standpoint, Mewtwo really couldn't be blamed, especially since he learns at the end of the movie humans aren't all that bad... (Keep in mind, however, that I also think everything AFTER the first 20 minutes or so of MSB doesn't deserve to call itself canon...)

If Giovanni really doesn't count, then I'll go with Butler. A nutcase if there ever was one. Like most Pokemon movie villains, really. But Butler's particular flavor of nutcase is one I like.

They are all fascinating characters and I like all of them for one reason or another, but instead of voting for them all, I decided just to choose the one whom I favor most for a lot of reasons--Monsieur Girardin, le Collecteur excentrique. But Blackjack knew that already. :-D

My second choice would be Mewtwo, whom I spoke on in a little presentation during a seminar about the notion of the cyborg--although he needed a radio drama and a sequel to explain him better than we understood by the first movie alone! The complex Molly and Butler are tied for my third choice, although Annie and Oakley are right up there not because I *like* them per se, but because I like that the film allows me (the viewer) to *hate* them--selfish, remorseless, unscrupulous human beings as they are. The Iron Masked Marauder I wasn't that impressed with, but I guess his foolish and destructive ambition is shown to be the result of insecurity? I'm reserving judgment on Phantom until I see movie 9--which hopefully will be in a month or so!

I had to pick my namesake, though I suspect I'd have picked Captain Phantom if I knew more about him. Fat pirates with belted beards and robo suits are cool.
