I feel like there is some consensus that, regardless of how you feel about the games, the soundtrack slaps. I'm really hoping Nintendo adds it to the Nintendo Music app soon because holy heck they really elevated XY's soundtrack along with the new music.

What's the track you've had on repeat since the game came out? For me, its been Jacinthe's battle theme, the electroswing really brings me back to 2011 Tumblr lol.

Much like with my favorite Mega, once it was leaked there was never any real doubt what my favorite song in the game would be

A composition so grandiose and magical I immediately assumed it had to be for the Hyperrogue Ange Floette battle. I was in genuine shock when I saw an upload claim it was for Lysandre right until I realized the strings at 0:44 were playing a soothing version of the Team Flare motif. The triumphant violin that comes on afterward is the anthem of a man who's been liberated by the burning away of his old grievances, who can now battle not as a deathbringer but as a regular person and friend to his Pokemon.

Honorable mention goes to the Zygarde 100% battle music: This arrangement of the original XY legendary theme belongs to the same class occupied by Shadow Generations Final Rush I call "VGM remixes so good they just flat-out obsolete the original"

Oh man, there's like three that are easily my most replayed, but I'm not sure which is my ultimate favorite (story spoilers for all three)

  • (Rank E) Ivor's theme - Love the shredded guitar and and firey yet playful energy of this one. Guess you can say it fits Ivor to a T
  • (Endgame) Urbain / Taunie's final battle theme - Idk how to describe this, but it's just a fun no bars type of theme and probably the most XY-core song in the game. Again i love how heavy the guitar goes here. Fun fact, this is the song I default to within Battle Club matches and it just helps the energy even more
  • (Postgame, and pretty major irt story) L's battle theme - Holy crap, this might genuinely be... the most beautifully composed battle theme in the series' history. It runs the gambit of playing tragic, retrospective, and finally, optimistic. I especially like the melancholy yet upbeat use of the aforementioned Team Flare motif on spanish guitar, it's composed in a way like "Yeah, he used to mean bad things and it cost him greatly, but this man is gonna spend his future doing things for the better". I could genuinely do a whole deep dive on what makes this song great. The other two are probaly a bit more fun to listen to, but this theme is so powerful and hits different conpared to 90% of other Pokémon battle themes.

And honorable mention to what I'm just gonna call the "Important Trainer battle theme" aka the song for early promotion matches and some major characters later on. Already just a remix of my favorite default trainer battle theme in the series, and while I'm not sure i quite like it over the original (I would've liked the guitars to appear even more), it has it's own areas I really appreciate, like the part at around 1:40 where the beat just bounces and something almost choir-like is playing behind it, music to my ears.

I haven't played the game yet, but I've listened to some of the music and I absolutely love the daytime theme for Lumiose. I particularly like the nostalgic callback to X and Y's title theme at the three minute mark.

The composers for X and Y were asked to avoid making the music sound "too French" so that Kalos would still feel like a fantasy world, but they seem to have fully embraced the French vibe this time around and I think the soundtrack is all the better for it.

seems like everyone agrees about my favorite battle theme so i'll nominate my second favorite. (Rank F) canari's battle theme is a lot of fun, i like how it's more chill and upbeat but it still has that battle vibe
