I was wondering from the Bulbagarden community that many of you (myself included) are video gamers, so I was wondering what your favorite non-Pokémon Nintendo franchise was?

Is it one of the Big Three (Super Mario Bros., Legend of Zelda, Metriod)?

Maybe it’s Kirby, Star Fox, Animal Crossing, or maybe an underappreciated Nintendo franchise?

For me, it has to be Super Mario Bros. I have always loved the platforming gameplay of the series with classics like Super Mario Bros. 3 and Super Mario 64. Plus, there is all the great spin-off series, like Mario Kart.

Just post what it is and why?

Fire Emblem. It's hard, but has a great story and is fun.

either that or Legend of Zelda.

Mario games that involve Mario jumping on things.

Fire Emblem, always enjoyed the games and the story. It's also kind-a like pokemon in a way, because you gotta recruit them all!

Star Fox. It is fun but hard unless you play it a lot.

Zelda forever
I've liked it even longer than Pokemon and the fandom doesn't drive me insane (yet).
Lately, I've been spending more and more time over at Zelda Universe forums. So if it weren't for Pokemon, I'd be a Zelda fan.

Mario and its various spin-offs and related series. Kind of a cop-out answer because that includes like five to ten different series, but whatever. :p The sheer bulk of it all is pretty fun, although I am bit relieved they've been slowing down with the amount of games in recent years.

The one where the blonde kid wears a green hat and plays with swords and stuff.

Mario, Zelda, Animal Crossing, Kirby, and Earthbound.

Mario because it's a classic series, and it's also the franchise that saved video games.

Zelda because I like the puzzles, every adventure is unique in some special way, and I wonder what Ganon's up to.

Animal Crossing because it's fun to go fishing, bug collecting, and fossil hunting, and you have a house to decorate and friends can visit your town.

Kirby because I like the characters (King Dedede FTW!), you can copy your enemies' powers, and its bright and happy atmosphere reminds us that the world isn't always scary.

Earthbound because the Mad Duck fell down.

My favorites are Mario and Animal Crossing. Mario 64 was my first videogame, so it had to be my favorite.

obligatory i think metroid is a pretty cool guy eh fights aliens and doesnt afraid of anything

Seriously though, I'm caught up between Metroid and Advance Wars. Zelda comes a close third, though.

Mario, zelda.
mario 64 is so hard lol, i never got every star :p
zelda games are often challenging, with all of the puzzles

Animal Crossing hands down. :(

Kirby's a close second, but I haven't played many of them to say that it's my favorite.. so, yeah. Animal Crossing. Definetly. I have a total weakness for 'maek ur own charaktur and house desu!!!' games D:

I can't really think of anything else.. I really really suck at Mario, I've only ever really played one Zelda game (Phantom Hourglass), never played Metroid, I suck at Mother even MORE than Mario (hurr teener fails at games :B) and I've never played Metroid. I'm pretty close to trying out FE, though..

Smash Bros.!!!

Mario and Zelda are also my faves.

I like as well Metroid and Kirby and sometimes Star Fox and F-Zero.

Does Smash Bros count as non-Pokémon? :flinch: I have been playing a lot of Brawl since Christmas and it is a franchise I am currently interested in looking further into.

Either way, my favorite non-Pokémon franchise is definately Legend of Zelda. It just hits a lot of the things I like.
