i'm curious about which pokedex entries stand out to people, and maybe even made them think of a pokemon differently.
i like how a lot of slowbro's entries say that if the shellder falls off, it becomes a slowpoke again - some of the entries for the mega even call it a slowpoke. even if the game mechanics can't actually reflect it, i think it's fun that it's more like a kind of fusion than an actual evolution.
i also still feel attached to stantler because i liked its entries as a kid, the ones about how staring at its antlers will make you feel like you're being drawn into them and make you lose your senses. i remember staring at the sprite like that was going to happen in real life or something. i think it was just such a weird and specific description, it made stantler feel kind of mysterious, even though its design is pretty simple and it's not a very cool or impressive pokemon.
there are definitely others i like, but i'll keep it to the first ones i thought of off the top of my head

Easy- Bagons' and Salamences', especially some of the later ones talking about how being unable to fly actively causes Bagon stress and envy, and then that Salamence is overjoyed about flying that it quite literally does not stop until it literally HAS to rest. :W::Y::M::Y::W:

Whimsicott is a Pokémon that I overlooked for a long time, but I completely fell in love with it when I read its Pokédex entries, especially these two from Sun and Ultra Sun, respectively:

"It rides on the wind and slips into people’s homes. After it has turned a room into a cotton-filled mess, it giggles to itself and takes off."

"This nuisance sneaks into people’s homes, where it hides important things and scatters cotton all over the place."

This card from the TCG captures its mischievous personality perfectly.

Mew's are a given but they're far from the only reason I like Mew...hm...
I really like Absol's dex entries now that i dwell on it. they add so much to the whole aura of that creature. its such a 2003 goth kid beast in every way...love absol

Mudkip uses the sensitive radar receptors on its headfin to determine what's going on around it. In a pinch, it can brandish enough power to crush rocks.

Mudkip is one of my favorite Pokémon, so this Pokédex entry replays in my head. I can’t even tell you how many times I watched the Mudkip episode of Pokémon Advanced when I was younger.

Let's take a look at Blastoise's dex entries for each generation, because... well, I said so. If you're still reading, that's your problem

Gen 1 keeps it pretty boring, until Stadium claims that they can pierce concrete walls. I mean, I'd sure hope the water was that strong.

Gen 2 adds that it can also cut through thick steel, but what I want to focus on is the entry from Gold:
"It deliberately makes itself heavy so it can withstand the recoil of the water. jets it fires."
Aside from developing an eating disorder, I want to know how it deliberately makes itself heavy. I mean, it's most likely a mistranslation, but it's still funny to think about it just planting its feet and increasing its weight, but only to handle the recoil.

Gen 3 is where we get into some Powerscaler™ territory, with an accurate shot against a tin can from over 160 feet away. The main reason I talk about this is because this guy actually calculated the muzzle velocity to be anywhere from 1200 ft/s to 7000 ft/s, depending on drop-off and air resistance, being equal to, or faster than, a firearm.

It's not until Gen 9 where some other outlandishly powerful capability, or anything that isn't a recycled dex entry, where Scarlet actually deliberately re-uses the "increased weight" entry, meaning that Blastoise may just be the master of matter or something.

The actual new entry from Gen 9 (Violet in particular) states that it can use its cannons to charge at opponents with the force of a rocket. I'm too lazy to look for figures, but Blastoise can probably A-Train whatever it's trying to attack

If this post isn't definitive proof that I need a hobby, then it probably doesn't exist.
